After getting myself together, I checked myself in the mirror one last time, before putting my mask back on and exiting Christian's old bedroom. I made my way downstairs, joining everyone back at the party, as I scanned the crowd for Christian. He was standing nearby, talking to an older couple, as I approached them without interrupting their conversation.

"Oh, there you are. I'd like to introduce you to Nancy and Emmett Peterson. They've been friends of the family for as long as I can remember. This is my girlfriend, Destiny Langston." Christian spoke, wrapping his arm around my waist.

"Hi, nice to meet you both." I smiled, extending my hand, but neither one of them reached to shake it. If I'm being honest, they were looking at me as if I had sneezed in my hand and tried to shake theirs afterwards. "Or...not." I dropped my hand back down to my side, glancing at Christian, who had his eyebrows furrowed.

"Your girlfriend, you say?" Emmett said, clearing his throat.

"Yes. Is there a problem?"

"Oh, of course not. We just didn't know that you dated women of...color." Nancy said, looking me up and down. "What happened to that delightful girl? What was her name again? Um...Anastasia Steele. She was a lovely woman, don't you agree darling?"

"Yes, she was a gorgeous girl. What ever happened to her, Christian?" Okay, was I not standing right here? I guess not.

"Things didn't work out between us, as you can see, but she is here tonight. Feel free to go and look for her, while I go and dance with the prettiest woman in here. Excuse us." He snapped, pulling me away, as we stepped out on the dance floor. "I am so sorry about that. I didn't know that they were..."

"Racist?" I said, finishing his sentence. He sighed and nodded, shaking his head a little bit. "Hey, it's fine. I know there are still those types of people in the world, but who cares? Love is love, no matter the race or gender, and we love each other so that's all that matters."

"Such a wise and mature thing to say, Ms. Langston." He pulled me closer to him, as I wrapped my arms around his neck, slow dancing to the live music that was playing. We stared lovingly into each other's eyes, smiling as if we were the only two people in the room. He spun me around, pulling me back into him, which made me laugh a little as we continued dancing. He definitely knew his way around a dance floor, such as myself, but ballroom dancing wasn't really my thing. "Did I tell you how beautiful you looked this evening?"

"A few times, actually, but it couldn't hurt to hear it one more time."

"You look beautiful." He smirked, leaning down and kissing my lips. God, I can't believe how in love I am with this man. He was a step up from Deron on so many levels and I couldn't help but thank God for sending him to me.

"Mind if I cut in?" We heard, looking over to see Grace standing there.

"Not at all." I smiled, moving out of the way. "I'll be right back." I walked away from them, heading into the bathroom, so I could pee and retouch up my makeup. I hadn't seen Audrey since the auction, but I was sure she was around here somewhere; unless she decided to leave. I sent her a quick text, asking where she was and could she meet me in the bathroom. When she didn't immediately respond, I knew she either seriously enjoying herself, or she hauled ass out of here.

Once I finished using the bathroom and washing my hands, I started fixing up my makeup, watching as a few of the guests exited the bathroom. I was adding some gloss to my lips, when I felt the presence of someone else, as they came and stood next to me.

"Christian has a date." She spoke, making me look over at him. Of course, it was the child molester herself, which made me roll my eyes. "I'm impressed."

"I bet you are." I grumbled.

"I'm Elena, by the way. In case you forgot."

"I know exactly who you are, but what I don't know is why you're talking to me right now!"

"I wanted to meet you, especially after I disrespected you the first time we met, which I'm sorry about that by the way." She said, speaking to me in a calming manner.

"I can't say the same. Excuse me." I was about to walk away, but she quickly jumped in front of me, stopping me from doing so.

"Hey...I'm not the enemy."

"I never said that you were, but I know what you did to Christian." I hissed.

"All I did was lead him to the truth of who he really is. Without me, he'd be in jail...or dead." She stated. "And he would say the same."

"Yeah, we've had the conversation already, but how I feel about you will always remain the same."

"Do you think you're the first woman he'd hoped would save him? He needs a submissive in life...not just in the bedroom."

"No, what he needs is love and affection, which is exactly what I'm giving him! The things you think he wants and needs...he doesn't want or need them anymore. He's changing." I told her, feeling myself getting angrier by the second.

"But it's what he needs. And you don't strike me as the type of woman that wants to be owned. If you really want to make him happy...if you want to be happy...you'll let him go." She said.

"You'd like that, wouldn't you? You'd just love for me to leave him, just so you can swoop in and get your old play toy back, but hear this Elena...I'm not going anywhere! What Christian and I have is real and I don't expect you to understand that!"

"I've been there. Nothing lasts. Nothing." I took a deep breath, playing out a million and one scenarios in my head on how badly I could beat this bitch up, but out of respect for the Grey's...I wasn't going to act on them.

"Look...what Christian and I have is none of your damn business! You sitting here trying to talk to me as if we're the same, but we are NOT the same person! So why don't you do us and yourself a favor, and stay the fuck away from us, because next time...I won't be so nice about it!" I snapped, storming away from her. I walked out of the bathroom, feeling my hands shaking, as I quickly walked down the hallway. Christian appeared out of nowhere, watching as I made my way towards him, slightly furrowing his eyebrows. He must've sensed that I was upset because I'm sure it showed.

"Hey. We should think about going soon." He spoke.

"I wanna go now!" I told him, as I quickly walked passed him. I made my way outside, taking a deep breath, as the coolness of the rainy night brushed against my burning hot skin. Why? Why do I keep allowing these women to disrespect me and NOT do anything about it. I try and take the high road, but where does that get me? Nowhere. Absolutely nowhere.

"Destiny..." Christian spoke, walking up behind me. He placed his jacket around me, as he flagged down the valet. "What did Elena say to you?"

"Nothing that I didn't already know." I crossed my arms, kicking my heels off, as the car pulled up and I didn't wait for anyone to come and open the door for me. I quickly sent Audrey a text, letting her know that I was leaving, before sending Wes a text and asking him if he could come back early. I was starting not to feel safe, despite the security details that Christian had lined up, but I wanted MY security detail. The one person that I trusted with my life and would never steer me wrong, no matter what. I wanted...no. I needed Wes and it's crazy how I'm just now realizing that.
