Chapter 12

I could barely remember the chaos of that day...Trying everything possible to get to Brazil before the other hunters or rather, trying to get to Aurora before anyone else. All the effort I put in to make sure she wasn't harmed...it all seemed like such a waste of time now.

It's funny how time away from someone effects your mind and feelings...or maybe it's just the alcohol talking. I place the glass on the table and pour the last shot of whiskey from the bottle. I've been drinking more than usual lately. The last time I drank this much was after I lost my family and found myself unable to cope... Guess I feel like I've lost everything again, actually I feel like I've lost myself. Nothing is the same anymore...what I once thought was right, I now doubt. What I believed in and who I fought for is now debatable and feelings I would have never thought to feel has overwhelmed me.

It's been seven months since I last saw her face to face, since then I've been following one lead after another... Following the trail of carnage that she leaves behind, it's almost like she's teasing me by leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for me to follow, but no matter how hard I try to outwit her, Aurora is always one step ahead, and the frustration is also part of what's driving me to drink. She consumes my mind.

I could no longer protect her from others going after her, she drew too much attention for that. The vampire council contacted the hunters for assistance... Out of fear of what Aurora could be capable of. Robert as part of the Vampire Council playing innocent, agreeing with the rest of the council that Aurora, the once peace seeking vampire has turned into a killer, hell bent on killing any vampire that crossed her path and she therefor needed to be taken out...but it wasn't just any vampires she was after, and they were too thick to get it, too consumed with their own selfishness and fears of their rankings and riches being taken away.

I knew the truth, I knew that Robert was behind the attack on Sabastian's club... I knew that Robert's vampires killed The General, but no one else outside of Aurora's inner circle knew... Worst was, it couldn't be proven, None of Robert's followers would confess, He either had a blood bond with them or they were under his seduction, or they feared him... Either way, not one of them would turn against Robert And no one would take Sabastian's word over Robert's so Sabastian would be saver off keeping his mouth shut...Robert would have no problem in having Sabastian killed just to quiet him.

That doesn't mean Sabastian hasn't been helping me. Who better to help me to try and find Aurora than her brother. He knew her better then I did, he knew her better and longer than anyone else... Other than Robert. Years of history between Sabastian and Aurora and therefor he may know of places she may go, old acquaintances she may turn up to find refuge, he knew her habits... He was my best shot in finding her.

Eric and Terrance also joined our search party and it wasn't long before the news traveled to the wolves, so of cause Joshua, Alex and Kate joined up with us in Barcelona. We all searched for her for different reasons, and we knew we weren't on the same side but we agreed that we would look past our differences. The biggest priority was to find her, what happened thereafter was something that could wait. Sabastian was there because she was his vampire sister and he had a bond with her, he loved her as a sister and he looked up to her, she had protected him and mothered him for years. Joshua had a love for Aurora, i didn't have words for. It was partially because she saved his life, more than once, partially a childhood crush, partially because she was married to shadow at a point making her family, and even after Shadow left, she took it upon herself to financially carry the pack. Alex was there because Aurora was one of his best friends. She changed his life and now he was with Joshua so she was family. Kate was Joshua's niece and she followed him around everywhere, they were more like a brother and sister than a uncle and niece. She was a lot younger but she was a fierce fighter.
