1. "Babe," Jay whined at me, "Please come out tonight! I've already told Tom and Nath I'd go, and Kelsey's coming, and Nath invited Marissa!"

I set another folded shirt into one of the small piles on my bed and sigh. "I don't know Jay." But I'm just messing with him. Marissa had already begged me to agree when Jay asked, because she was nervous for her first outing with Nathan. They weren't dating or anything, but I knew she kinda liked him. I was neither encouraging nor discouraging it.

Jay pouted at me, and I suppressed a smile. Then he reached over my shoulder and grabbed one of my bras from the laundry basket. I gasp and turn to grab it from his hands but he holds it straight over my head.

"Jay!" I protest, going on my toes as I try and grab it.

He smirks at me and says, "Say you'll come with us tonight! Say it!"

I glare at him, and his guard drops as he starts to think he's won. Then, in a rapid movement, I go en point and snatch it from his slightly lowered hand. As I turn and toss it into the basket again, Jay grabs me around my middle, somehow slipping as he does it and landing on his back, dragging me down as well.

We both crack up laughing. I roll off, but we stay on the floor next to him. "Rissa already had me promise I'd go."

Jay flicks my arm. "That was NOT nice, Shaun!" But he's smiling and follows it with a sweet kiss.

"What should I wear tonight anyway?" I ask him as he helps me up onto my feet. Jay's gaze travels over the lycra shorts and tank top I was already wearing, (Hey! It's laundry day!) and that arrogant smirk is back. "I like this look."

I turn, rolling my eyes. "You're useless. If I just ask Marissa she'll dress me up like a Barbie doll."

He rifles through the shirts lying on my bed, talking as he does. "Kelsey will probably be in a dress. Marissa too, I guess. But you should wear this. It's purple, and it reminds me of the first day we met. Plus, it really makes your eyes look nice." He hands me one of my purple strapless shirts, and I notice he's blushing a little.

He'd be even more embarrassed if I called attention to it though, so instead I smile at Jay and squeeze his arm. "Thank you."

Jay waited until I'd finished getting ready, occasionally making a comment. Like when I took my hair out of my earlier tight braid and I was about to redo the insanity, he asked me to leave it.

In the end, I was in the shirt Jay picked, a pair of jean shorts layered with black lace tights, my leather jacket and combat boots. My hair was insane, make up matching my shirt, and I had done it all without Marissa's help. Maybe I was evolving.

We stopped at Jay's just long enough for him to change his shirt and then we stopped by Tom's place to pick him and Kelsey up. She, to no ones surprise, was in a cute dress and heels. Yet, she still exclaimed how cute my outfit was. I returned the compliment and then we were off.

Nathan and Marissa were already in a booth in the VIP area when we got there, a bottle of beer in front of Nathan and some fruity cocktail by Marissa. Jay and I agreed to go get drinks for the four of us.

The bartender slid down to us and I couldn't help the grin on my face. "Isaac? Is that you?"

Isaac was one of Henry and Lucy's life long friends, and technically Clara's godfather. I hadn't seen him since he sided with me and my mum during the custody battle. I'll admit that I had a crush on him when I was younger.

His dark face contrasted immensely with his shocking white teeth when he grinned at me. "If it isn't little Shaun! I haven't seen you in, what, two years? You've really grown!"
