Alice Cullen

~*~*~*

We were all seated. I fidgeted with my fingers, anxious for the wedding. I supposed... if Brook was happy... I had to let her go, right? That was what love was... you want this person to be unbelievably happy in their life, even if it wasn't with you. Besides, I believed that she would come home to me someday. All I knew was that I had to see her. I could not last another day without seeing her smile, or hearing her laugh, or listening to her voice.

The piano player started playing the Wedding March and down the isle came my soul mate, looking beautiful - like a Goddess. She was guided down the isle by Alec, who held her arm gently and protectively. I could tell he loved her as a sister. How could one not? She was beautiful, kind, gentle, shy, intelligent, and the most perfect person I'd ever met.

She stood in front of the lucky bastard himself and held hands with him. Caius and Marcus were on their other side, clearly going to be the priests. Everyone sat down, and I watched her silently, my eyes filling with tears that would never shed.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to bind Aro Dionysius Volturi and Brook Delilah Evans to one another, for all of eternity. If anyone shall object to their union, speak now or forever hold your peace." Caius said happily. I saw Brook's hand twitch a bit, as if she were going to reject the marriage. She didn't want to marry him? No, no. There was no denying the love in her eyes.

But if she didn't? I could save her from a loveless marriage. I could make her happy. But.. she was hap-

"I object." Emmett said strongly, standing up.

"Thank God. I object too." Alec was next.

"I'm on the objecting boat, too." Rose stood beside her husband. I slowly stood.

"M-Me, too." I stuttered shyly.

"What are your reasons, Cullens and Alec?" Marcus said, sounding... relieved.

"She's obviously not happy! You can tell. Most brides smile on their wedding day, but she isn't. She's clearly more miserable than a block of boring business buildings." Emmett stated.

"Aro, I do not mean any disrespect, but if I know Brook, she hates commitment. Though she may love you, she does not want to get married. She has good reason not to want to get mar-" Alec added politely before Aro cut him off.

"What-" Aro started, before Brook cut him off as well.

"I appreciate all of you trying to help me, but I truly do want to go through with this wedding." Brook said softly. It was my turn, now.

"B-Brook? Do you remember me from your human life? Remember the smiles, the laughs, the hugs, the kisses, the love, the... pure happiness we shared? You made me happy, and I you. I don't know why you're like this now, I don't know what happened to you. But I do know that you and I belong together. You should not be marrying him. If you were to marry anyone, it was supposed to be me. I'm the one for you. I know, because you're the one for me. So, please, Bee. Please rethink this marriage." I said slowly, pouring my heart out to the love of my life.

"Alice...?" She murmured. I could see her now dark crimson eyes widen as she remembered me.

"It's me." I smiled at her lovingly. Edward was staring at Jane, and she stared back.

"I'm sorry. I can't... I love Aro and the Volturi. This is my home now. I'm sorry, but I want to go through with marrying my Aro." Brook said gently, trying to let me down easily. She shook her head, smiling ruefully.

"But-" I tried to talk, but she turned back to Marcus and Caius.

"Continue, please." She said firmly. The two men nodded, and my world collapsed. I sunk back into my seat, numbly staring as she was taken away from me for a third time.

Brook Evans

What was I supposed to do? Jane, Alec, Felix, Santiago, Chelsea, Afton, Renata, and I had planned this. We weren't about to ruin everything for something like... my personal problems. I couldn't ruin everything then. The years we had spent planning the Revolt couldn't be for naught. I would sacrifice my chance at true, eternal happiness if it meant saving the vampiric world from the Kings.

After the ceremony, I sat beside Aro. We held hands as people danced, laughed, and had fun. I kept looking at my beautiful Alice. I kept mentally apologizing to her, but I couldn't let her come in between my mission and myself. It was time for a Revolution.

Bigger things were at work, and I hoped she'd understand when it was all over. I took in every detail about her, every strand of hair on her head, the way her golden eyes shone on me when she saw me but dulled when they looked away, her cute little nose, her kissable lips, her bell-toned voice as she softly spoke to the other Cullens - who were all glaring at me other than Edward. He seemed to know what we were planning, obviously his mind reading had revealed everything to him. After I mentally begged him to keep it out of his mind, and to not tell a soul about it, he nodded very slightly. I smiled ruefully at the boy and looked at Aro.

Aro had been a cruel ruler, when he'd found out that any of his best guards found their mates, he'd destroy them. Jane's mate, Harold, was a half-human/half-vampire who came to the Volturi for an explanation of what was happening to him was first. Then, Felix's Brit, and Santiago's Caleb, then Renata's Paul. After I had gotten closer to Jane due to Alec, she'd told me about the Revolt. I agreed to join, I couldn't imagine the pain of being forced to watch as he destroyed Alice. The thought made my stomach twist and tighten in agony.

The Revolt and I had done some digging, a few things were suspicious to us about my now-husband's past. Specifically with his sister and Marcus's mate - Didyme. Her death was written off as an accident, but after looking back at old records of finances and letters, as well as a quick questioning from Caius, we'd learned that the bastard had learned that his brother-in-law and his sister were planning to leave the Volturi and decided to keep Marcus there by killing Didyme. That was when we truly put our plan forward.

I was disgusted by my husband, but it wouldn't be too much longer. I looked over at Alice, who was looking at me with sadness and disbelief in her golden orbs. I sighed softly and mouthed my apologies to her, to which she just smiled sadly at me and shook her head a bit.

It won't be long, Ali, just wait for me... please.
