Back at the pad

Micky and Davy had already got in contact with the Malibu police. The Palm Springs police arrived at the pad.

Davy hurried up to the door once he heard the knock and when he opened it, he didn't recognize the cop that stood before him.

"Is this the monkee residence?"

"Yeah. Are you with the Malibu police?"

"No. I'm with the Palm Springs police."

"Palm Springs? What are you doing all the way down here in Malibu?" Micky questioned.

"Do you boys know Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork?"

Micky and Davy both lit up. "Yeah." They said at the same time. "Do you know anything about what happened to them?"

"That's why I'm here. The PSPD had to put you're friends in the Witness Protection Program."

"Wait, are they really in that much danger?"

"Yes. Unfortunately they are. Some camper found you're friends apparently running for their lives somewhere deep inside woods in Palm Springs. They didn't look injured at all if that's what you're worried about."

"That's good. Can you tell us where they are?"

"I can't. Its for their own good. They can't let anyone know where they are. Don't worry about them. They are going to be just fine."

"How are we going to work as a band if 2 of our teammates are gone and we have no idea where they are."

"Davy, we will get through." Micky responded seeing the frustration in Davy's voice. "How long will they be gone?"

"We are unsure. They had their names changed so don't go looking for them."

The officer left the pad and left Micky and Davy with their thoughts.

"Not seeing Mike and Peter is going to drive us nuts Davy." Micky said.

"Yeah. I sure am going to miss them."

"Hey, we will see them again Davy."

"I hope that's true Micky."

Somewhere else

Mike and Peter were now living in a small house in South Dakota. Mike and Peter had both gotten a job as musicians. They couldn't play their own songs because they couldn't get recognized. Mike didn't have his bangs parted the way they always were.

And Peter really didn't have to change anything about himself

And Peter really didn't have to change anything about himself.

They had gigs every other day to keep up with their rent. It was just the way it was back home. All except they didn't have Mr. Babbitt to bother them. Sometimes, Mike missed that. He missed everything about Malibu. He felt the exact same way he did once he moved from Texas to California. He was homesick when he left Texas.
