Scientific Makeup: The name "Aquamarine" refers to the paleish blue, light blue-green or even light green variety of beryl. The green of aquamarine is a watery green without any trace of yellow and is due to iron, not chromium. The streak is white. Hardness is between 7 1/2 - 8.

Environment: Develops in pegmatites and certain metamorphic rocks. It occurs with quartz, microcline, and muscovite.

Found in: Crystals weighing up to a ton have been found in Brazil. Other deposits in Russia, Madagascar, the United States, and recently, Afghanistan.

Name: Roman. Translates to "water of the sea".

Magick and Legend: Traditional protective and luck spell for a fisherman. Carved into cups and goblets because of the belief that it aids in digestion and reduces bodily fluids. Associated with sea goddesses. Recommended for increasing psychic abilities. Birthstone for March.

Healing: Used to relieve stomach disorders and as a diuretic. Recommended for toothaches.

Note: Often associated with the dolphin.
