Every time I arrive at school, the hallways always look even more depressing than earlier. This morning was no exception. The walls of the building carry a bad mood with them.
I walked casually to the principal's office's door and pressed the button next to the door. When it showed a green light for me, I opened the door and walked in.
Our principal looked at me as I sat down in front of his desk.
"Your parents already told me about the situation. I've decided that you'll have two hours of detention and few more extra classes. I hope you understand the seriousness of this." He said.
"I do understand it."
He nodded. "Well... you'll have the two hours of detention today after your classes. Unfortunately, none of the teachers are able to watch over you, so we'll have the janitor let you in and out."
"It's fine."
"Go on now."
I nodded and left the office. I thought it wasn't that bad. Two hours? I can manage it.
I went into the class, knocking on the door, before walking inside. My teacher eyed me for a second.
"And why are you late?" She asked, fixing her glasses.
"I was speaking to the principal." I answered, sitting down on my place.
She nodded. "Turn to the page forty five."
The classes went pretty well. Of course, I wasn't paying much attention, but still. When it was lunch time I saw Kihyun approaching me. He grabbed my arm and led me to the cafeteria. We sat down with the others.
"Now... explain." Kihyun looked me straight in the eyes.
I shrugged. "What do I have to explain?"
"Why did you skip the classes? Why didn't you go home? I know you didn't tell your parents anything." Kihyun said.
I sighed. "Okay. I didn't tell them anything."
"So, tell us."
"Why?" I asked.
Kihyun frowned.
"Because we're your friends." Minhyuk said.
I rolled my eyes. "Okay... I didn't want to go to the classes, because I was mad, and I didn't go home because I was mad."
"Where were you then?" Hyunwoo asked.
Before I could answer, Changkyun coughed. "He was at an abandoned house."
The table was awkwardly silent for few seconds. I stared down at my hands.
"What? Why?" Jooheon asked.
"It's a place I like to go, when I want to be alone." I said.
"Makes no sense..." Minhyuk hummed.
I frowned. "To me it does."
"Okay okay, don't fight." Hyunwoo sighed. "So, you just wanted to be alone?"
"That's right."
"And there's nothing more to it?"
This felt like an interrogation. I glanced at my friends, my eyebrows getting even more twisted. "So you think I'm hiding something?"
Hyunwoo scratched his head. "No. I just asked."
"I see... you guys have literally turned against me. What the fuck is this supposed to mean? I thought you might understand how I feel, but it seems like you're all just assuming that I'm lying." I hissed at them, standing up.
Changkyun quickly grabbed my sleeve, before I could leave the table. "Hey... just sit down. Let's discuss this."
"Why would I want to sit here so you can judge me? You have no idea how suffocating it is, when everyone is assuming wrong things about you."
"Calm down..." Kihyun said. "We never said anything like that."
I sighed but sat back down.
"Why do you think we're against you? Where does that come from?" Hyunwoo asked me.
I shrugged. "I just feel like everyone thinks I'm doing everything wrong."
"We're always on your side, I can't believe you even doubted that." Jooheon said, sipping juice with a straw.
Again, I shrugged. "I don't know. It was just a feeling."
Kihyun smiled gently and looked at me. "I you ever feel like that again, talk to us... I think we would understand you better, if you would tell us what's bothering you."
I nodded. "Thanks... I think I just feel pressured, because my parents are on my ass all the time."
"Understandable." Minhyuk hummed. "I have to admit, they're a bit intimidating."
"Anyways..." Changkyun suddenly spoke up. "What do you guys say for a party night?"
"Yes! Of course!" Minhyuk screamed right away. "Whose party this time?"
Changkyun laughed. "It's Namjoon's birthday this friday."
"Oh? Where is it?" Kihyun asked.
Changkyun tilted his head slightly. "I don't know."
"Great." Kihyun sighed.
"Doesn't matter thought. We'll find out soon." Changkyun said.
I rested my chin on my palm and looked around the cafeteria. "I'm not sure if I can go..."
"Oh... yeah..." Changkyun sighed. "You're grounded, right?"
I nodded.
"That sucks." Minhyuk whined. "We'll come break you out of your prison!"
I shook my head. "We'll see."
Our conversation was cut by the bell ringing. We stood up and each of us went to our own classes. I knew the rest of the day would be like torture, because I had math, PE and the stupid extra class. I made my way to the math class. Luckily Minhyuk was sitting next to me, so I could always talk to him.
After the math class, I literally struggled through the PE. We had tennis and I hated every second of it, so I just slacked off. I knew the teacher wouldn't force me to try my best, so if I just tried like one percent, it would be enough.
Even though the PE felt like an eternity, I eventually walked to the next class, which was the extra class. It was a class, with one teacher sitting in the front of the room, while I worked on many different subjects throughout the hour. It actually wasn't that bad, because I could just work peacefully, without others bickering in the background.
After the extra class, I had detention.
I walked into the detention room, which was empty. I sat there and waited. After a minute or two, the janitor showed up and checked if I was the only one who was supposed to be there. It turned out, that someone else was supposed to be there, but they were sick, so they didn't show up, so I would have to sit there alone. The janitor told me when he would come back and closed the door behind him, leaving me there all alone.
I first just tried to actually study, but I had no motivation after the extra class, so I decided to take a nap, which literally lasted throughout the whole hour. Luckily the janitor didn't give a damn.
I couldn't wait to text Hoseok...
