Camila let out a deep breath before entering her classroom. It was her first year back as Cabello. The name almost seems foreign to her.  She added a few finishing touches around the room to make it seem more welcoming. She then made sure she had spelled everyone's name right on their cubbies and their assigned seating. 

"I can do this." 

7:55 A.M. 

Camila propped open her classroom and anxiously awaited for her new students to arrive. She plastered the best smile she could on her face as students made their way inside. Giggles erupted the space.  Camila greeted each student with a smile and high-five or a fist bump. Once Camila counted all fifteen students, she closed her door. 

"Good morning class! I hope you all had a great summer. My name is Mrs. Men- Cabello. Miss Cabello, actually." Camila frustrated herself stumbling over her introduction. "Today is mostly going to be relaxed because I want to know more about you guys. Is that okay?" A collection of yeses or okays bounced off the walls. "Alright. To begin, if you look to the back of the room, you have a cubby with your name on it. Go put your things away please."  Chatter then took place as well as small laughter. Soon enough they sat back in their seating. 

"Okay now, I would like someone to come up to start introductions. All you have to do is say your name and a fun fact about you. Any takers?" 

A small curly headed boy raised his hand. Camila nodded her head. He slowly walked up and fixed his jeans. "My name is James...", He looked up at Camila for approval. After gaining two thumbs up, he continued. "I have a dog named Ollie." 

"Good job, James!" Camila then pulled out a pad of stickers, "This is for you." Suddenly, hands went up across the room. "Alright, how about you pick who goes next, James?" James nodded and pointed at a boy in the front. The boy excitedly took James' spot at the front. 

"Hi. My name is Peter! Um...my fun fact is that I collect legos!" Camila hid her laughter over his excitement then awarded Peter with a sticker. "Very nice, Peter. How about you pick a girl this time?"  Peter glanced at the students before picking a girl in the back. She also jumped to the front.  "My name is Lucy. My fun fact is that I love dinosaurs." Camila nodded, "Oh how cool!" She gave Lucy a sticker, "Who is next, Lucy?" Camila noted a girl trying to hide behind a folder as Lucy tapped her on the shoulder giggling.  The girl let out a sigh before taking a place at the front. 

The girl stood fiddling her thumbs rocking on her heels. "My name is Lauren." Camila's heart warmed once she spoke, "Hi Lauren. You are doing so well. Keep going." After Camila's encouragement, Lauren gained confidence. "A fun fact about me is that I like to draw." Camila gave her a thumbs up and a sticker too. Once each student said their names and their fun facts, Camila moved to get out paper. 

"Now, you are going to draw the fun fact you spoke about to the best of your ability. Then we are going to hang them up on our art wall." Peter raised his hand. "Yes, Peter?" 

"You didn't tell us a fun fact about you." 

Camila jokingly hit the side of her head making her students giggle, "My fun fact is that I love to play music." Camila grabbed a piece of paper herself, "You may go get your supplies from your cubbies and get a piece of paper." Students did everything in a timely manner before taking their seats once more.  

Camila sketched out a music note as well as guitar then went over the gray lines with a pen. Even though she was in a room full of first graders, she was insecure about her artistic talent. She decided to take a look at her student's work. She started with a girl named Isabella, who was drawing her best friend, Kara. "Nice work, Isabella." She then glanced at Kara's drawing of Isabella. "Good job!" 

She let out a sigh of relief after glancing at everyone's work. Luckily, she did not have any art prodigies. So she thought. "Hey Lauren, can I take a look?" Lauren moved her hand from her work. Camila's mouth dropped an almost perfect paint brush being dipped in blue paint. "Very nice, Lauren." 

Camila cleaned up her work before unveiling it to the classroom. "Is everyone finished?"
