Camila sighed stepping through the door of her group therapy session. She had not been in years. She caught glimpses of the people who were attending. She did not recognize anyone making her feel worse. Normani noticed Camila hesitant to walk in. "Camila, nice of you to join us. Take a seat." Camila cringed knowing she could not leave now. She took her seat near an older man."I believe that is everyone. I wish we could skip the introductions but we have a few new people." Normani spoke, "so anyone can start."
A man decided to go first, "My name is Jonathan. I'm trying to get better for my kids." Normani nodded then the man next to Camila spoke up, "My name is Mike. I am trying to do better for my kid and wife too."
Jonathan and Mike gave each other a nod. Camila found it heartwarming that they both had each other. Camila knows it is easier with someone to count on for support.
"Uh, I am Steph. This is court ordered." Camila held back a laugh and hid it with a cough, "I am Camila. I had a relapse so I am back." Steph caught on to her doing and sent her a glare. Camila shifted uncomfortably in her seat as the rest of the group did their introductions.
Normani applauds everyone quietly, "First, I have to say I am proud. It takes a lot to admit you need help. I am glad you guys are seeking out ways to better deal with trauma or coping with unfortunate circumstances. I know you all have big goals but we are going to set up smaller ones." Camila zoned out remembering her first-time last time. She knew exactly what Normani was doing. She feared it would make things harder for her.
Camila moved to leave not wanting to strike up any conversation; she dodged Normani on the way out as well. She felt so guilty for giving up her sobriety. After loosing Shawn, it is all she had. Camila's heart aches for letting down not only herself but her friends. She knew deep down Dinah and Ally were disappointed. She could not dare think about what her family would say. She barely could tell them about the divorce. She sat in her car for what seemed like hours thinking when a knock on her window brought her from her thought. She rolled down her window to see Mike. "Hey, a few of us are going out for some ice-cream to celebrate one day, you in?" Mike asked with a smile on his lips. "No, I am really tired. Thank you though!" Mike nodded, "Drive safe!" Camila smiled back backing out of the parking lot.
How come it is the nicest people with the worst demons?
