now that she had admitted her feelings towards daniel to herself, walking up to daniel's doorstep was so much more nerve wracking for maci. however, she made it as she knocked on the door.

daniel's smiling face opened the door, and maci felt her heartbeat quicken. how come it had taken another girl for her to realize these feelings?

"come in." daniel nodded. maci nodded her head and then walked inside to see daniel's house. everything was perfect and organized. maci noticed a blond girl with the same blue eyes as daniel sitting on the couch and scrolling through her phone.

"anna, can you move?" daniel asked her.

anna groaned as she got up from the couch and trudged to her room.

"she loves me, i swear." daniel told maci, laughing a little.

"seems like it." maci laughed. they both sat down on the couch and maci pulled her script out of her bag.

"i was thinking we could go over songs today." daniel admitted.

"oh, yeah. of course." maci nodded. maci still had stage freight when it came to singing, that's why she had been thankful they hadn't done any singing parts up until now. with the play fast approaching though, she knew she was going to have to face her fear soon.

"what about we sing 'you're the one that i want'?" daniel asked.

"okay." maci nodded. daniel walked over to the piano that was in his living room. he sat down on the bench and turned to look at maci.

"well, come on." daniel said, nodding to an empty space on the bench next to him.

"oh, i don't play the piano." maci shook her head.

"i didn't expect you to. i want you to come over here so i can hear you sing." daniel explained. maci nodded her head and then sat at the empty space at then piano bench. daniel started playing 'you're the one that i want' on the piano and sang his part. when it came to maci's part, she sang hers.

"you better shape up. cause i need a man, and my heart is set on you." maci sang. daniel stopped playing the piano and looked at her.

"what's wrong?" maci asked, turning red. this was why she didn't sing for people.

"damn. why haven't i heard you sing before?" daniel asked, a smile taking up his face.

"i don't like to sing in front of people." maci tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"why not? your voice is gorgeous." daniel told her.

"thanks." maci blushed.

"are you blushing? is the maci taylor actually blushing?" daniel teased.

"shut up, tooth gap." maci laughed, playfully pushing daniel. daniel smiled as she used his familiar nickname.

daniel continues to stare at her as her cheeks returned a normal color. maci took notice of this.

"what?" maci laughed.

"nothing." daniel blushed now, then turned his attention back to the piano. they continued to practice songs until maci had to go home that evening.
