soon enough, it was opening night for their school's performance of grease. maci and daniel couldn't get the butterflies out of their stomachs as they stood backstage, watching the auditorium fill up with audience members.
"we're gonna do great." daniel told maci, even though he didn't believe it himself. maci grabbed daniel's hand and he grabbed hers as they continued to watch the auditorium fill up.
"places! we start in ten!" the teacher yelled from somewhere backstage.
daniel gave maci's hand a squeeze and she turned to look at him.
"break a leg. but not literally, please." daniel said.
"i'll try not to." maci laughed. daniel smiled and then left maci's side and went to his place. maci stood there, watching the audience fill up for a second longer, but then went to her place.
the play went on smoothly. there were only a couple mess ups, but nothing too big that the audience noticed. the songs were perfect and maci faced her fear of singing in front of an audience.
then it was time for the end of the play, the kiss scene. maci and daniel performed the scene and the audience went wild.
the best part was that both maci and daniel didn't do the kiss for the play or for a dare, they did it for themselves.
