"ava." maci said as her best friend opened the door.

"showing up unexpected? i didn't even get a heads up. i'm not complaining, it's just very unlike you." ava said as she let maci in. maci walked straight over to ava's couch and flopped down.

"ava, who was at the door?" dad j, one of ava's dad's, asked.

"just maci!" ava called out. this was followed by a silence which meant that it was okay with him. ava sat on the couch next to maci and looked at her.

"what's up?" ava asked maci.

"talia and daniel are going on a date." maci said.

"and...?" ava trailed off. maci took a deep breath then looked ava in the face.

"i'm jealous." maci said.

"you don't like daniel like that." ava laughed.

"what if i do though?" maci asked. she was concerned herself, she told herself from the beginning that she wasn't going to fall for daniel.

"i've been jealous from the second talia responded to his comment on my instagram post. i don't know why, it's stressing me out." maci sighed.

"i thought you liked jonah though." ava said, confused.

"that's just a joke." maci shook her head.

"wow, maci. why don't you tell talia? she'd back off if she knew." ava said.

"talia already knew before i admitted it to myself and they're going out on a date," maci sighed, rubbing her temples, "this is not what i signed up for when i signed up for theater."

ava sighed, out of advice to give to maci. she'd never seen maci this upset about a boy before, it was all new to her.

"ice cream and movie night?" ava asked. maci nodded so ava got up to go grab the ice cream.
