"I'm nervous." I say while slipping a black crop top over my head.

"What, is that your new favorite word?" Grayson rolls his eyes while putting on his sneakers.

My eyes scan my appearance form the long, full-body mirror in our bedroom. White shorts take up the lower part of my body along with my regular converse. The only makeup I'm wearing is eyeliner.

"Is this okay?" I turn around to face Grayson.

"Yeah, it's what you always wear." He shrugs my question off.

"That's not good." I groan and look back at the mirror. The nerves are eating me alive.

"Why? You look beautiful." He comes up behind me and places his hands on my shoulders.

"The café we're going to is fancy."

"Stella, you live in a penthouse. I don't think it could get any fancier than that." He chuckles while staring at me through the reflection.

"Fine, but what if she thinks this crop top is too slutty?" I look down at it.

"Who cares? I like it." He smirks while resting his chin on the top of my head. He always uses our height difference to his advantage.

"Well, then I guess that's all that matters." My frown literally turns upside down once I turn around to fully face him.

"Stella?" Lanie's voice calls from the distance.

"Yeah?" I turn my head, seeing her opening the door.

"Oh, you guys are still here." She smiles once she sees Grayson and I wrapped up together.

"Yeah, we're leaving soon." I nod and slowly step away from my boyfriend. "Is my outfit okay?"

"Ugh, why would you ask her that?" Grayson groans while playfully placing his hand on his forehead.

"Well, I like the black and white pattern. What block is the café on?" She asks while eyeing my appearance head to toe.

"Eighty fourth." I gulp.

"Oof, I would wear sandals." She shakes her head while placing her hand on her chin.

"Crap, should I?" Worry laces my voice.

"And maybe add a necklace. It will make your neckline have a statement."

"No, babe, it's fine." Grayson sighs while looking at me.

"Lanie's the fashion expert." I throw my hands up with a groan.

"Her words, not mine." My best friend gives Grayson a pointed look once he glares at her.

"Where's Ethan?" He changes the subject.

"Getting me lunch. He should be back any minute." She says as the elevator door dings from downstairs. "Right on time. He better have my smoothie."

"Let's go. We don't want to be late and traffic is going to be a bitch." I grab my purse and head out of the bedroom. Grayson trails behind me as we start to walk down the long staircase.

"Oh, hey." Lanie's voice speaks.

My eyes shift down, causing my feet to stop walking. Jake is standing in the middle of the living room, looking around in awe. He turns and looks up once he hears us.

"Jake." I gulp.

"Hey, sorry for stopping by on short notice. I wanted to see you." He looks at me with a nod.

The three of us finish walking down the stairs, Lanie turning around to give me an awkward glance.

"Were you going somewhere?" My brother furrows his eyebrows once he sees my bag.
