After we went back home to change and freshen up, we all made our way over to the very loud and very crowded karaoke club. I didn't think it would be too packed, considering it's almost midnight, but I was wrong.
"Who's idea was it to come here? I hate singing." Jake lowly whispers into my ear.
"The bride to be, so act like you're having the time of your life." I roll my eyes while looking back at him.
"I happen to like this place." Carter smirks as his eyes roam the area.
"Wow, I wonder why." I say in a sarcastic tone.
"Not fair, he can actually sing. I'm going to go up there sounding like a dying cat." Jake scoffs while wrapping his arm around Allie's waist.
"But that's the fun part." Allie says while patting on his chest.
"Only if you're drunk, which I won't be." Jake shakes his head.
"You don't need to be drunk to have a good time." Grayson says to my brother.
Lanie looks back at us with a hesitant smile. "Is anyone going to be drinking tonight? You don't have to-"
"I am." Carter says while raising his pointer finger up.
Ethan glances at Lanie with a loving smile. "I'm going to head to the bar. What do you want to drink?"
"Strawberry daiquiri, please." She leans up and crashes her lips onto his.
Ethan pulls away and looks back at Carter. "What do you want? It's on me."
"Uh, coke and bacardi." My partner tells him.
Ethan's lips curve into a wide smirk. "That's my man." He hits on Carter's chest before turning to walk away.
Lanie instantly starts jumping up and down with happiness. "I can't believe I'm engaged." She sighs while looking down at her ring.
I hold onto her hand and give it a light squeeze. "I'm so happy for you, Lanie."
"It's just so surreal. I mean, we plan on waiting a few more years to actually get married, but still!"
"That's good. Wait until you both finish school." I encourage while smiling at her.
"I guess this would be a good time to ask you to be my maid of honor." She bites down on her lower lip, anticipating my answer.
"Are you kidding? Of course I will." I wrap my arms around her, pulling her into a hug. "I love you, Lanie."
"I love you, too. I can't wait for you to be my SIL." She says while squeezing onto me.
I can't help but laugh at her crazy acronyms. It might be awhile until I'm officially her sister-in-law, so for now I'll stick with the best friend title.
"Yeah, one day." I look back at Grayson. He's in a deep conversation with Jake, but I still love to admire him.
"Can I see your ring?" Allie comes up to us.
"Of course." Lanie proudly extends her hand out. She's going to make sure every single person in New York City sees the breathtaking diamond.
"Wow, this is gorgeous. Ethan has amazing taste." Allie's eyes sparkle with awe as she stares down at the piece of jewelry.
"I can't believe he got me this engagement ring. It's everything I ever dreamed of." She lustfully sighs.
"Are you one of those girls who have been planning their wedding since they were five?" Carter chimes in by stepping closer to us.
