Chapter 14: Lucas Roger

"Burgess,Erin,Antonio cover the back everyone else you're with me in the front. Jay you're the last through the door," Voight tells the team.

Jay begins to protest, but Hailey stops him. He knows Voight is only trying to protect him.

"Breach!," Voight orders.
"CPD!", Kev yells as he breaks the door down.

They all rush in from the front and back clearing each room as they work to each other.

"Basement!", Burgess yells.
"On 3," Kev says coming over to cover her.

He pulls the door and she starts clearing the stairs. The rest of the team follows her and Kev down the stairs. There's movement in the back corner, Lucas is trying to escape through the window.

"CPD! Turn around with your hands up!" Burgess orders.

As Lucas turns around he draws a weapon, luckily Kev sees it and shoots him in the leg. Kim runs over and kicks the gun away from him.

"Stay down!" She orders him.
"Everyone okay? Kim?," Adam yells from the steps.
"Yeah, were good. Roll an ambulance for Lucas," Kev says.
"You shot him?!" Jay yells at Kevin.
"He drew a Burgess! Or course I shot him. I shot him in the leg, to knock him down not to kill him," Kev explains Jay.

Erin grab jay and drags him outside. She knows he's needs to get out of the house and take a minute.

"Hey! Hey! Breathe! Kevin did the right thing, what if he shot Burgess too? It's a flesh wound Jay," Erin says.
"I know I know. If he murdered mouse, I wanted to be the one who pulled the trigger,"Jay replies.
"That's exactly why you breeched last. We all want to get this guy Jay, you're so close to it. I don't want to see you do something you'll regret," she says.
"He was my best friend. How could I not realize all of this was going on?" Jay asks.
"You know how CIs work. It's even stricter at the federal level, no one could know. I wanted to tell you to have another set of eyes on him, but technically that would be a breach and I could have lost my job. At this point, I wish I would have just told you..." Erin says looking away from Jay.
"This is not on you either, I don't blame you," Jay states looking in her eyes.
Erin breathes a sigh of relief, "I needed to hear that".
"Jay call ahead to Will, he's the only one I want taking care of Roger. Ambulance should be 5 minutes out," Voight states.

Jay does just that. He calls Will at med and gives him a quick rundown and everything that has happened and why they only want Will working on him. He has to live.Voight sends Burgess,Atwater and Ruzek to the hospital as Rogers retail. There's no way he's giving this to patrol.

It's been 4 hours since Lucas came out of surgery, he's finally awake enough to be questioned.

"What do you know about Greg?", Adam asks.
"I know that punk was moving in on my territory!" Lucas exclaims.
"Was?" Burgess questions.
"I mean is. I'm still groggy", Lucas says trying to save himself.
"So you thought that Greg was moving in on your cartels territory ?" Kevin asks.
"Yes! He my business was down and i started seeing him more and more. Probably like every 6 weeks or so", Lucas says.
"You know you sound pretty angry, angry enough to kill him", Adam states.
"Hell yeah im angry. That territory belongs to the Kings, everyone knows that!" He yells.
"So you killed him? You killed him because his cartel was moving in on your street", Kim states angrily.
"Yes I did. He was taking all my customers and my boss was pissed at me. So I eliminated the issue. You should thank me really, I got a drug dealer of the street,"Roger says with a smirk.
"Except that drug dealer was an undercover informant and a member of this unit, we won't thank you but we will make sure you spend the rest of your days in a small cell," Kevin states.

Kim steps out of the room to call Voight.
"Srg. We got a confession. He said he killed him because mouse was taking his customers "
"Bring him to the district, the prison nurses can care for him", Voight responds.
"I'll run it by Will", Kim says as she hangs up.

She finds Will and explains that he had confessed and Voight wants him charged and booked now. Will agrees to discharge him and tells Kim that if needed he can testify along with Dr.Manning that Roger was oriented and alert enough to know what he was confessing.

The three of them bring Roger back to the district in cuffs. The whole team is waiting for them when they arrive.

"You son of a bitch!! He was my friend and you killed him!"Jay yells.
Young and Voight hold Jay back as Adam and Kev take him to look up.
"I do have one question. Why did Wyatt have those pictures of Mouse and Jay?" Kim asks.
"Turns out, he saw them talking together and thought Jay looked like a cop so he was going through any pictures he could of them to see if Jay was a cop and if Mouse knew. He claims all he knew was that Mouse and Jay served together,"Erin explains.
"Were going to charge him with drug trafficking, that'll really send a blow through the cartel,"Young adds.
"Thank you for the assistance on this," Voight says shaking Young's hand "and Erin don't be a stranger".
She nods. Jay pulls her off to the side to talk.

"I'm sorry, I was upset about mouse and it was easy to blame you. That was wrong of me. Thank you for helping us," Hay says.
"I'm sorry this happened. I never wanted to lose him," Erin responds.
"This isn't on you," He states.
"I should get going,unless there's a reason I should stay,"Erin starts.
"Take care of yourself "He responds

Jay walks away, he desperately needs a beer and to get away from Erin before he does something he shouldn't.

Erin heads to the locker room to get her things where she finds Adam and Kim.

"It was nice working with you guys again. I really do miss you all," Erin says.
"Don't he such a stranger," Kim says hugging her.
"She's right yanno,"Adam says also hugging her. Erin nods and waves goodbye.
"Now how about that date?" Adam asks.
"What if we head back to your place and start packing. You practically live at my place, let's make it official." Kim states.
"Sounds perfect darlin. I promise it'll be different this time," he says kissing her forehead.
"It already is,"Kim responds.
