Chapter 4: The Deal

Kim wakes up early, she usually doesn't sleep well before a buy, especially one that she has a bad feeling about. She decides that since she has time and Adam drove her home and is taking her to work, she should do something nice for him. She gets up and gets ready and walks the two blocks to get the taste of Chicago, pork chop sandwich.

She gets back just as Adam is pulling up. She motions to him to give her one minute and he nods in response. She grabs what she needs for the buy and heads to Adams car.

"Good morning ", Adam says as she gets in the car.
"Good morning, I got you something as a little thank you", Kim replies.
Adam looks puzzled and she opens the bag. Once it's opened the smell hits him and he instantly knew what it is.
"Did you get me a pork chop sandwich?!", he exclaims. She pulls one out of the bag to show him.
"You just made my whole day", he says with a smile.
"I know how much you love these things and I know you probably haven't had one in awhile. I thought I'd get you one for driving me around", Kim explains.
"Hey, anytime you need a ride and there's one of those sandwiches involved, call me", he jokes.
Kim laughs and puts the sandwich back in the bag. They're a bit messy so it's easier to just wait to eat them at the district.

Once they arrive they head upstairs, as they pass Platt gives Burgess a look. Indicating she thinks something is up with them arriving together. Kim just rolls her eyes and follows Adam up the stairs.

"Yo Kev you'll never guess what Kim got me!!", Adam almost screams.
"Good morning to you too man. What did she get you", Kev replies.
"Only the best sandwich in Chicago ", Adam explains.
"So the pork chop..?", Kev says
"Hell yeah!", Adam grins

Kim just shakes her head. It never took much to make him happy. She gets butterflies at the thought of how happy she's made him. Kev just stares at her with a smirk, thinking she's trying to get him back.

Kim just shakes her head at him and heads into their little kitchenette to eat her sandwich.
Adam joins her. He still wants to talk to Kev about what him and Kim were whispering about at mollies. Since then Kim's seemed different, not bad just different. He's dying wanting to know what they said. He eats his sandwich so fast Kim can't help but watch in fascination.

"What? They're really good!," Adam exclaims. Kim just laughs and goes back to eating her sandwich.
"Hey I gotta talk to Kev about the meeting with Lynn so I'll see you in a bit. Thanks again for the sandwich ", Adam lies to her, well slightly.
"You're welcome ", she responds.

Adam walks by Kev and motions for him to follow, they walk downstairs by the cage.
"What's up man", Kev asks.
"I need to know what you and Kim talked about at mollies last night", Adam says.
"Why? That's between burgess and me", Kevin replies.
"Come on man, I need to know if it was about me. She's been acting different since then", Adam replies.
"What do you mean different ?" Kev is a little worried now.
"She kissed my cheek last night when I took her home and she bought me breakfast this morning ", Adam explains.
"Sounds like she was just being nice",Kev says. He doesn't think it's his place to share Burgess's feelings. That's on her.
"She hasn't done that since she called off the engagement. Please. Just a hint. Was it about me?", Adam asks getting irritated.
"All I'm going to say is yes it was about you. I'm not gonna betray her trust. But you're my brother so I'll tell you that when this undercover job is done, maybe you should ask her out," Kevin responds. He hates not being able to tell Adam the one thing he wants to hear the most. That Burgess is still in love with him.
"Why? She'll say no", Adam says confused.
"Don't be so sure man. Don't be so sure," Kev says with a smirk.
Adam just nods. Still confused about what just happened.

Jay yells down "hey guys come up here so we can go over he plan". This brings Adam out of his thoughts. He needs to focus on this deal and he'll worry about the Kim situation after.
"You good?, Kev asks before heading upstairs.
"Yeah man", Adam responds.

"Alright so Antonio and I will be around the corner on the east in the surveillance van. Jay, you and Upton will be on the west side ready to move in if needed. Kev, I want you inside the factory incase things go bad fast, you can get there quick" Voight explains to the group.
They all nod in agreement.
"I have one of my CIs prepared to answer the phone if Lynn needs proof of customers and money." Kim adds.
"Alright sounds good. Your safe phrase is, this is just wack", Antonio adds.
Kim and Adam nod. Both repeating the phrase to themselves.
"Alright, gear up", Voight says.

Adam and Kim roll up to the factory before Lynn gets there.
" I have a bad feelings about this still," Kim says.
"Me too," Adam replies.
She places a gun in her boot just incase things go sideways. Hopefully Lynn wouldn't think to check her boot. They get out of the car and lean against it waiting on Lynn.

"We got a silver Camaro coming on the west side," Upton says over the radio.

Kim takes Adams hand to play the part. Thought it might be out of habit or because her gut is telling her something is off. Adam tightens the grip, wanting to keep her close.

"Did you enjoy your fun night man?" Lynn asks as he steps out of the car.
"Hell yeah I did," Adam adds with a wink.
"I got the guns in the trunk if you wanna see them", Lynn replies.
"Of course we do. We gotta make sure they are up to our customers standards", Kim states.
"I already told you that they would be", Lynn replies a bit forcefully.
"She's just a worry wart. Her spending habits rely on this deal." Turning to Kim Adam adds, "it's alright darlin, I'm sure these guns will be just what our customers expect."
Kim nods and follows Adam to the trunk of Lynn's car. Lynn pops the trunk and there's a suitcase full of high end glocks.
"Could we fire one? Just to make sure they shoot smooth", Adam asks.
Lynn nods and grabs a gun. Instead of handing it over he points it right at Kim's head.
"Woah woah!! Why are you pointing that at my girl?!", Adam exclaims.

"Srg, should I move in?" Kev says over the radio.
"Hold your position. They haven't used the safe phrase yet. They'll get themselves out of this", Voight replies.

"You said you wanted to test them. What's a better test than to shoot someone?" Lynn adds with a laugh.
"You're not shooting my girl to prove they're  smooth. Shoot that stack of pallets over there", Adam nods in the direction.
"Where's the fun in that? Plus I can get a bigger cut if there only one of you", Lynn adds.
"You think he'd go ahead with the deal if you kill me?" Kim states.
"He wouldn't have the option to say no", Lynn replies as he cocks the gun.

Kim gulps, looming at Adam. Debating if she should use the safe phrase. Adam remembers that Kim has a gun in her boot, but how does she get to it without Lynn noticing. Adam flicks his eyes from Kim's to her boots and back. Giving her the hint of what's he's going to try to do. She gets his message.

"Listen if you shoot my girl, I'm shooting you. End of story," Adam says harshly. He steps between the gun and Kim. The barrel is resting against his forehead.
"How precious. You're going to take a bullet for her. Makes me sick," Lynn snarles.
"I told James and now I'm telling you. Do not point your gun at my girl. Ever. It won't end well", Adam responds. He makes a fast move and chops Lynn in the elbow, causing him to drop the glock on the ground. Adam used the moment to tackle Lynn. He searching for the gun on the ground as he's throwing punch. Lynn is doing the same. Kim reaches for the gun in her boot, not that it'll be any use. They're moving to much, she'll never get a clean shot. Adam and Lynn both get a hold of the gun and are wrestling for.

"This is wack!" Kim yells.
"Move In! Move in! ", Voight says

Before the rest of the team can get there, a gunshot goes off. Adam and Lynn both aren't moving.
Kim screams,"Adam!! Adam!! Are you okay?!?" As she runs to them, gun drawn.
All she can see is blood coming out from under Adam....
