Burzek Goes Undercover

Chapter 12: Chasing the Lead

The intelligence team all roll in at the same time, since they all stayed together last night. They were planning on just changing clothes when they got to work.

"Do you guys always arrive at the exact same time? Did you guys have a sleepover?" Agent Young asks jokingly.
They all look at each other and smile.
"Oh you guys are close," Young states.

He's never met a time that has sleepovers. Kinda strange, but he gets it.

"I was thinking. Let's start with whoever Mouse was dropping the drugs off to. Maybe that person found out that he was informant," Antonio says.
"That would be Garcia Wyatt. He's second in charge and definitely a heavy hitter," Young explains.
"His rap sheet is a mile long. Armed robbery, attempted murder, and assault and battery just to name a few," Kim states.
"Looks like is LKA is 6247 Columbia St," Adam says reading over her shoulder.
"Okay, Adam and Kim, Jay and Hailey hit the house. Antonio and Kev go see forensics and see what they found," Voight states.
Erin turns to young,"I'm going to go with them to Wyatt's house." Young nods.

Erin rides with Kim and Adam trying to avoid the awkwardness with Jay. She's happy to see these two back together and holding hands. She knew Kim never really moved on even if she dated other people. Everyone knows Adam was still in love with her. They arrive at Wyatt's house.

"Well take the back, you and Hailey take the front", Adam says to Jay.
"Got it, no announcement", Jay states.
"Give us 10 to get around back," Kim says.

Jay and Hailey nod and head to the front door while the other 3 head around back. They breach and move through each room clearing the house. Meeting each other in the middle of the house.

"Hey guys check this out," Erin yells.
They all go the small room that she's standing in and are surprised with what they see.
"Holy crap," they all say looking around the room. It's photos of Mouse talking with Jay.
"Some of these are years old! Look at this one, this was after our first deployment", Jay says frustrated.
"How long has he been following Mouse? Why? I thought this was a new undercover job", he adds turning to Erin.
"It is Jay. He's never worked with us before on this. I don't know why he would have all these pictures unless..." she starts.
"What are you getting at?," Upton asks.
"Unless he thought mouse was working with Jay. It's clear that he knows Jays a detective in these pictures, maybe he thought Mouse was working undercover for him," Erin suggests.
"So Wyatt killed him because he thought he was working for me when in reality he didn't tell me anything and you got him killed," Jay says angrily.
"Jay!," Kim exclaims.
"Come on man let's walk outside," Adam says.

The boys walk outside. Adam could tell Jay was about to go off in Erin, but he's not sure he was about mouse.

"She got him killed," Jay starts.
"You knew how badly Mouse wanted to do this. He wanted your approval. Yes you thought he was enlisting but he wanted your say. He wouldn't want you to blame yourself man. He'd want you to find the son of a bitch who did this to him," Adam explains.
"He had a target on his back from the get go because of me", Jay adds.
"That might be true. This is not on you man. Wyatt didn't have his facts straight clearly and would've killed mouse either way. He just wanted an excuse. So let's find him. Let's grab the girls and go back to the district and figure out where he could be hiding", Adam says.
"Yeah, okay," Jay says agrees.

Adam goes inside to grab the girls and text Antonio that the house was empty and they'll explain what they found when they get back to the district. Erin rides back with Adam and Kim again.

"Be honest Adam. Does jay really blame me?," Erin asks.
"He needs someone to blame right now. Since we haven't found Wyatt, it's easier to blame you. You left. You worked with Mouse. You kept it from Jay. I'm not saying it's right, but it makes sense to him right now," Adam explains.
"You know, Jay. He's gets very passionate about those close to him, especially when they're hurt or in danger. His blinders go on and all common sense goes out the window.", Kim adds.

Erin nods, she's knows they're right. Jay needs someone to blame and she's an easy target. She deserves it anyways after everything she put him through. She's silent the rest of the way to the district.
