Chapter 11: Secrets

"Intelligence this is Agent Young with the FBI. He is in charge of international drug prevention. My unit works with his to stop the drugs from entering and exiting the US", Erin explains.
"I'm srg Hank Voight, nice to meet you", Voight says.
"I'm sorry it's under these circumstances. Erin says you guys worked with Mouse", Young states.
"Yes him and detective Halstead were stationed together and when we needed a tech guy, Jay recommended Mouse," Voight explains.
Young turns to Jay" I'm sorry for your loss, Mouse talked highly of you".
"I just want to know what Mouse was helping you with and how it got him murdered", Jay said sternly.
"Mouse was an undercover informant for us. A cartel had expanded their drug ring into Afghanistan to help give their fighters and upper hand. Mouse was sent it to figure out who was the shot caller. He ended up being in charge of the shipments. That's why he was in Chicago every 6 weeks, to protect the drugs and give us updates," Young explained.

Jay walks away. He can't believe what he's hearing, Mouse was a CI for the FBI. Why didn't he tell him? Hailey went to check up on Jay.

"Hey you alright?" Hailey asks.
"I'm just. I'm just confused. I don't get why mouse didn't tell me. I could have helped him", Jay states as he leaned against the wall.
"Maybe that's why he didn't tell you. He didn't want you involved with all of this", hailey says. She's trying to reassure him.
"Yeah maybe", Jay says more to the room.
"Okay so we'll do our thing. I'll come over and we have a few beers and talk hockey and then tomorrow we come in heads on straight and find the asshole who did this to mouse", Hailey states sternly.
"Yeah, Id like that, Thanks", He responds.
They head back upstairs.

"I'm sure you are all eager to get this investigation started, but since Mouse was a friend-"
"Family.", Adam interjects.
"Right. Family. Well start tomorrow. Take tonight to grieve for Mouse and tomorrow come in and we'll start working on making whoever did this, pay", Agent Young states.
Everyone nods in agreement. Erin walks up to Jay.

"I'm sorry about Mouse. Do you want to go to Molly's? We can raise one for him.", Erin asks nervously. It's the first time she's talked to him since she left for New York.
"No I'm going to go home and drink a few beers", Jay states.
"I can come over so you don't have to be alone," Erin adds.
"I won't be. Hailey is coming over",He says a bit harshly. Erin broke his heart.
"Oh" is all she can say in response.

At Jays:
"Erin could've came over if you wanted her too," Hailey states.
"I didn't. I was going to propose to her and she left for New York without a goodbye. I don't want to hangout with her. I just want figure out who hurt Mouse and then she can go back to her perfect life," Jay slurrs. He's had a few beers already.
"Alright just checking," she says and turns back to the hockey game. Making a mental note of how many beers he's had, she cuts him off after 6. He's already at 4 and it's only 9pm. This might be a long night she thinks to herself.

At Molly's:
"How is Jay?," Erin asks Kim.
"He's in pain. Mouse was his best friend," Kim says.
"I don't understand why he was so cold to me. We always were able to talk well with one another", Erin says confused.
"Listen, you know i love you. You broke his heart when you left. He was a wreck for awhile. I'm sure seeing you now, after his best friend was murdered, isn't easy", Kim adds.
"I didn't mean to hurt him. I had to leave Chicago for my career", Erin defends.
"I get it I do. You left without really saying goodbye though", Kim says cautiously.

"Hey ladies!" Adam says as he hands them both beer.
"How are you Adam?" Erin asks.
"It's been a bet crazy lately but I'm good", Adam responds. Kev calls for him so he walks over to him.

"Is it weird working with him?" Erin asks.
"It was at first. There was an undercover job and I thought Adam got shot and I confessed my feelings and we went on a date except I got shot. Here we are," Kim says calmly.
"Damn I have missed a lot", Erin says

Across the bar:
"I want to raise one to Mouse. He was a hell of a tech guy, even if he talked to much. I thank him for his service. We're going to do everything we can to catch the son of the bitch who did this. We'll miss you brother", Adam says.
"To Mouse" everyone says.
"Hey can we get out of here?" Adam asks Kim. He's still staying at her place.
"Yes, but I want to make a stop first", she responds.
"So do I", Adam says. They both know where they need to be.

They get to Jays door and right before they knock they hear a car pull up and the both turn around.
"Looks like we weren't the only ones with this thought", Antonio says getting out of the car with Kev.

Kim turns and knocks on Jays door.
Jay opens it, surprised to see his entire team at his doorstep. He's a bit confused as to why everyone is here.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Jay asks.
"We just wanted to check I'm on you. To make sure you're okay. We know you're with Hailey, but we all felt this is where we need to be," Kim explains.
"I'm fi... you guys want to come in?" Jay asks.

Realizing how much he does need his team.
They all head into his living room where Hailey is sitting with a smile. This is exactly what Jay needs. They end up raising a few more beers to Mouse and all end up crashing at Jays. No one wanted to leave him and honestly, he didn't want them to leave either. They're going to have a long hard day tomorrow, but tonight they just need to grieve as a team.
