You were surrounded by pure chaos. There were deviants screaming in terror and running in all directions. You could hear helicopters and what sounded like tanks from outside, and even rapid gunshots from afar. Your heart was pounding like crazy.
You were running for a while now, beginning to huff. Connor was still holding your hand, practically dragging you along, through multiple corridors, around corners, hurrying down a stairway.
At an intersection of corridors, you came across a female deviant with a brunette braid, draped over her left shoulder.
"They're coming from all sides!" she exclaimed towards Markus as soon as she spotted the three of you. "Our people are trapped in the hold, they're gonna be slaughtered!"
"Where is Josh, and Simon?" the leader asked.
"I don't know, we got separated."
"They're coming from the upper deck now too. We'll be caught in the crossfire!" he explained.
"We have to run, Markus! There's nothing we can do!" the female deviant uttered.
"We have to blow up Jericho." Markus suddenly suggested. "If the ship goes down, they'll evacuate, and our people can escape!"
"You'll never make it!" she yelled. "The explosives are all the way down in the hold, there are soldiers everywhere!"
"She's right." Connor commented, still holding onto your hand. "They know who you are. They'll do anything to get you!"
"Go and help the others. I'll join you later." Markus told the girl.
"Markus..."
"I won't be long."
And with that, he took off in another direction, while you, Connor and the other deviant began running as well.
You barely took your eyes off Connor as he pulled you along, only occasionally passing glances at the female deviant jogging next to you. None of you have spoken a word so far. All you knew was that you had to get to safety. Simultaneously, your heart and mind were still running wild... Everything felt so surreal... And at the same time, the grave danger of the situation began dawning on you. The gunshots became more frequent, louder and closer, and you've encountered several dead androids lying on the ground, bleeding out, causing an uncomfortable knot to form in your stomach.
"So..." the female deviant suddenly began, and you snapped out of it. "Are you a prototype or something? I've never seen your model before... Name's North, by the way."
"Yes, my name is Connor. I was originally sent by CyberLife to assist the police." he responded without looking back.
"Uhm, I was talking to her." She said promptly.
"Oh." He simply responded, and you raised your eyebrows. "Me? Oh, I- I'm not... I'm sorry..." you stammered in between huffing. "I'm a human, actually." You pulled down your scarf and smiled. "I'm (Y/N)." You introduced yourself nervously. North just stared at you for a moment, before stopping dead in her tracks. You and Connor stopped as well, looking at her in confusion.
"You're a human?" she suddenly exclaimed. "What the hell is a human doing here? I can't believe-"
"She only came to look for me." Connor suddenly raised his voice and interrupted her, squeezing your hand. "She's not like some of the other humans you may have encountered. She's..." he paused, glancing at you for only a moment. "She's... very kind..." He defended you, causing you to blush in an instant, surprised by his reaction.
North paused, looking back and forth between him and you, and your hands. "I hope you know what you're talking about..." she muttered.
"I'm very sorry to make you uncomfortable..." you began. "But I can assure you, I mean no harm whatsoever..."
"Yeah, whatever..." North paused and let out a sigh. "Look... Sorry for my reaction." She said hesitantly, avoiding your gaze. "With everything that happened, I tend to be very cautious."
"Don't worry, you don't have to explain yourself. I totally understand." You replied with a gentle smile. "I've come across some shitty humans myself, to be honest..."
Finally, her features seemed to soften. "Well, as much as I'd love to keep chatting, we need to get the hell out of here..."
You responded with a nod before starting to run yet again.
After a few minutes, you crossed paths with two more deviants.
"Josh! Simon!" North greeted them as she stopped.
You took a look at them and your heart almost came to a full stop when your eyes met the blond android.
Well I'll be damned... It's that model again...
"North! ... Who's- " Simon stopped abruptly as he looked at you, his eyes widening.
"Y- you're... What are you doing here?" he stammered and your jaw dropped to the floor.
"Oh my god..." you whispered, still gripping Connor's hand, squeezing it tighter.
"You're the android from the rooftop..." Connor uttered.
"I don't believe it... What are the odds?" Josh commented. "He told us all about that incident..."
"Don't worry, we mean no harm..." You tried to reassure them.
"Oh... Really...?" Simon seemed surprised. "I'm sorry, I... I just..." he stuttered.
You took a deep breath. "Hey, it's alright... You did what you had to do..."
"You're not... upset, or anything?"
"No, no... Don't worry... I mean, sure, I was a bit shaken up, but that's about it..." you scratched your neck, looking at the seemingly confused android.
"I really didn't mean to hurt you, I swear... I just wanted to be free..."
"It's okay, uh...?"
"Simon..." he smiled softly.
"I'm (Y/N)." you smiled back at him.
"Hey, (Y/N). I'm Josh." The other deviant introduced himself. "A human at Jericho..." he glanced at yours and Connor's hands. "... with an android, huh? Interesting..." he smirked.
Flustered, you opened your mouth to say something, when North chimed in.
"Guys... Sorry, but you're gonna have to save the small talk for later... We really need to get out of here." she reminded you.
"O- of course." You nodded and the five of you began to run once again.
