24)Try Something New

"So did you live with your grandparents after that?"Cheryl asked.

" Yeah it was hard after the change. But eventually I got used to it" Toni explained.

Cheryl didn't really know how to respond. So many little questions she had about Toni were coming to surface. Toni told her how she ended up living with her grandparents, and why she never talked about her parents.

Also how she ended up with the funds she has.

'I don't know what I'd do if I lost my parents a thirteen' she thought.

"Hey don't give me that look Blossom" Toni complained

Cheryl didn't mean to but, she couldn't help it. She felt bad for her. So she pulled her into a hug. At first she resisted but she soon eased into it. It felt nice.

When the transition was made she didn't even talk about their death. Neither did her grandparents. It's like it didn't happen if she didn't mention it. She didn't really want to either. She wasn't really the type of person to be comfortable talking about things like that.

But being here in this moment felt so good. Like she was missing something she's been longing for the entire time. She didn't even realize how long she'd been holding her lover.

"Hey I'm sorry" Cheryl said pulling away from Toni.

"You're fine it should've been expected at this point"

They sat on the bed for a little bit before Cheryl broke the silence.

"See these are the things I want to know Toni"

"Well is there anything else you would like to know?" Toni asked rolling over to face her.

Cheryl played with a pink strand of Toni's hair in between her fingers. She was having fun finally learning about the person she planned on devoting her life too.

"Yeah actually, how was life after that"

"It was fine highschool was a little hard though"

"What do you mean?"

"TONI YOU CANT BEHAVE IN THIS WAY!" My grandmama shouted.

She slammed the door behind her and pushed me on the bed. I barely did anything.

"What do you have to say for yourself?!" She questioned.

She was so angry and her screaming caused spit to fly out her mouth , onto my face.

I wiped my face dramatically.

"I think you're overreacting" I mumbled.

She huffed and came and sat next to me on the bed. I shifted away. I didn't want to sit next to her.

"Toni what's going on?"she whispered.

Tears fell onto her cheek and she grabbed my hand.
"Toni I know it's been hard but you have to move on eventually"

Move on. Why the hell would I move on?

I snatched my hand away and got off the bed.

"Toni can you at least tell what happened?" she asked wiping away her tears.

I have never seen her look so defeated before in my entire life. But it has been so hard since they left us.

" He was mean grandma." I mumbled
