Chapter 36

Alina's pov

I'm sure you all are dying to know what happened after William kissed me, well I'll tell you. Immediately William kissed me, his soft lips finally against mine after weeks of fantasizing about it, I instinctively kissed him back. I felt his hands around my waist drawing me closer to him. I wound my arms around his neck anchoring him to me while poured everything I felt into the kiss. At first we fought for dominance with our lips but soon found a rhythm. Our lips moved in complete synchronization of each other. We made out like that for a while. I could feel the stares of the servants and they passed by. I knew I'll be subjected to lots of gossip but I didn't care about that. All I cared about was the feel of his lips against mine. I've imagined how it'll be, how it'll feel. But this beat my wildest imagination. Its the most amazing feeling I've ever felt in my life. My legs felt numb but not in a bad way. My toes curled. Butterflies danced around in my stomach.
  When we finally disengaged to catch our breath, I refused to meet his eyes. I knew if he looked into my eyes, he'd see the lust in there. I wasn't ready for that step besides the stakes were too high for me. The repercussions of me falling in love were too much for me to risk. My innocent crush has turned into something much more complicated. If care wasn't taken, I'd fall undeniably and irrevocably in love with him. Who was I kidding? I'm already in love with him. He put both his palms on my cheeks forcing me to look at him. I tried to evade but he didn't let me. I stared into his eyes and saw lust and something else nestled deep in it. Love. I refused to acknowledge what I saw. No it's not possible. William doesn't love me. He can't love me. It'll make things awkward and complicated. He pressed his lips on my forehead head and said
"Alina, you can't deny you don't see what we have here. Its more than lust. It's something much more precious, something strong. It's love"
I shook my head at him. No matter how much I want it, it can't happen. But I couldn't stop the blush from covering my cheeks. I looked up at him, he tears in my eye lids threatening to pour out. I said to him regretfully
"I can't William. It can't happen"
He looked frustrated and ran his hand through his hair and replied
"It's not can't. It's won't. Why are you bent on denying what we have?"
I shook my head furious that he was getting me wrong. I cut him off
"I'm not denying anything. I'm trying to tell you that no matter how much I want you, I can't let it happen"
He looked so broken it broke my heart.
"What's stopping us?"
I took a deep breath and replied
"The repercussions are just too high"
He arched a brow at me obviously confused and asked.
"What repercussions?"
I have to tell him. He deserves to know, if I'm going to break his heart, I might at least tell him the reason.
"If a sister of light is involved in sexual relations, she'll lose her magic"
He stared at me shocked. Something flashed into his eyes and I recognized it as determination. He put his arms on my shoulder and said
"We'll find a way out of it. Please just give us a chance. Don't stop us before we even begin"
I stared at him and realized that he is not going to take no for an answer. So I said instead
"I'll think about it. Please excuse me. I need to be alone."
I didn't wait for his reply. I turned and ran away going straight to my chambers. Deep down I felt embarrassed at the way I had kissed him back.

William's pov

I stared at Alina's back as she ran away from me. I couldn't help but think she might be running away from my life. But I won't let that happen. If you think you can run away from me Alina, then you must be joking. We are already bonded. Our hearts recognize each other. She belongs to me. My heart belongs to her. No one else can fill the hole she has occupied in my heart. I'll admit it. I'm in love with. Unconditionally and irrevocably in love with her. She was right. The stakes were too high. However there must be a way around it and if it exists, I'll find it. With a new found determination, I started off to meet up with Edward and Castor. I need to talk to them. If I'm to find a way out, I'll need all the help I can get. And who best to help me apart from my best friends. Just hold on Alina, I'm coming for you.
