I wake up and go and get some breakfast. I take my food, eat it, and leave. I'm still eating a piece of bacon when I see the assignment board. Harry put this up to help us with our activities, because sometimes people forgot to go and train the recruits or didn't but do a certain thing they were assigned that day. "Alright, what's for me today?" I ask myself. Let's see, Thursday. Ultra: Train Recruits. Fuck. The recruits never take anything seriously. I have to shoot or get Cav to help get them warming up. Do I have a partner? Let's see. Train Recruits: Ultra and Blackbeard. Nice. We can get them going. Training begins at 10:00. It's 6:45 right now. Well, then. Guess I have some time. I head back in my room. Mira is still sleeping. I lean over and give her a soft kiss. I grab my headphones and phone, and put on my workout playlist. I start with a jog around base. It's about 5 miles or so. Then, I go into the gym. I walk in and see Blackbeard and Valk talking. "Hey." I say. "What's up?" Blackbeard says. "Not much. Just working out. Also, we have recruit duty." I say. "God damnit, they never do anything." He says. "Well, we got to make them work. And we most definitely can. Training's at 10. Can I barrow your D-50 then?" I say. "Sure, what for?" He asks. "Nothing gets em going like a gunshot. And your's rings the loudest." I say. "Alright, see ya there." He says. We share a high-five. "Bye, Valk." I say. "Bye Ult." She says. I put on some punching gloves. "Shape Of You" by Ed Sheeran is on by now. I don't know why, but it just motivates me into doing something. I start hitting the bag. While this happens, I get flashbacks.

"Shit!" Was all I could say when we were on the chopper and flying to my old house. My girlfriend and I had made it so beautiful when we first moved in and started renovating. But now, that house was all gassed up, and she disappeared without a trace...moving to the hostage. "Are you alri-" I start to say. "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? THIS IS THE SECOND ONE!" I find my girlfriend dead, shot in the leg, then died of asphyxiation...tears in my eyes. These ones fall, for the entire squad to see...

I wake up from the flashbacks. I try to lean against the bag, but it's not there. I look and see that it's been knocked off of its chain that held it up. I must have hit it hard enough to break it. "Holy. Shit." I say to myself. I sit on one of the benches. I'm in tears again. Mira now walks in. "Hey, Valk told me you were in here working out. I thought I'd join. What are we..." she says. She then sees me on the bench, head in my hands. "You ok?" She asks. I can't say anything. I'm too choked up with tears. She walks over and wraps a hand around me. Now I'm feeling better, and I can speak. "Had a flashback. To the day she died. I was just punching the bag, and it happened. Maybe because I was listening to Shape Of You, Ed Sheeran. Maybe because my mind wanders when I'm in here alone. I don't know." I explain. She looks over and sees the bag on the floor. "Hit it hard enough, huh?" She asks. "Yea. I snapped out of it and tried to lean on it, but it was on the floor." I say. Mira and I just sit there in silence for a little. Delta walks in. He sees Mira and I. "You good, Ult?" He asks. Mira talks for me. "He had a flashback of the day his old girlfriend died." She says. I look at my watch. 9:30. I stand up and walk out. "Where's he going?" Delta asks Mira. That's the last thing I hear. I walk out to the field where Blackbeard is standing. "Took you long enough." He says. "Well, when you get flashbacks, sometimes they're hard to get over." I say. We're standing side by side when the recruits appear. "Alright, today we'll be doing 4 laps on the track, followed by push-ups and sit-ups." Blackbeard says. "Follow up with shooting on the range." I say. "5 minute breaks between each activity." We both say. "Ready?" I ask. The recruits are snickering and laughing. "Hand me the D-50." I say. Blackbeard hands it over. I shoot a bullet into the ground. "Listen up, maggots! We ask a question, you answer! Are you ready for your workout?" I ask. "Yes." Is the answer I get. "Alright, line up!" I say, and they do. I hand the pistol back to Blackbeard. I pull out mine. "On my mark. Ready, Set, Go!" I say, pulling the trigger. A shot rings out. The recruits start running. "See? Nothing gets them going like a bullet." I say. We chat for a little about operations and tactical stuff. Once the last recruit finishes his laps, we send them to get water. "No bullshit." I say, right before one squirts another. Once the water break is over, we line up for push ups. "Let's go. One, two, three, four! I love marine corps!" I say, pushing up and falling down with each word. The recruits all stop around 15. Blackbeard and I decide to have a push-up contest once they quit. "Seal vs. Marine." I hear a recruit say. Blackbeard and I hit 50 easily. Once we reach 100, we're hurting a bit. Blackbeard's arms are shaking. I can feel mine burning. "123! 124! 1...2...5!" Blackbeard says, and hits he ground on 125. I keep going to get 150. "Damn. Good competition." Blackbeard says. "Yep. Would shake your hand, but both of our arms are probably dead, huh?" I ask. "Yea. Well, now we got sit-ups. On the ground!" He orders. The recruits get on the floor. So do I. I start the count. After 10, I stand back up to watch the recruits. They manage around 30 each. "Good effort. Now, to the range!" I say. We start off with a slow walk, but pick up speed. Once we're close to the range, Blackbeard and I are full sprinting. The recruits are trying to keep up. Blackbeard and I slide to a halt. The recruits show up around 3 minutes later. "Alright, pick a weapon based on your CTU. Meaning GSG-9 Recruit gets a MP7 or 552 Commando. Same with the others. We arranged the weapons based on CTU. Lock and load." I say. They all pick up a weapon and start firing.
