Chapter 10

It had been several months since their accident. It was nearing their one year anniversary. Just a few days more. Mike already had stuff set up for that special day. Micky and the others had other plans with their girlfriends so they would all be out different days celebrating their anniversaries.

Shaun had wondered why Mike hadn't stopped by her house in the last couple days. Finally, it was their day of their anniversary and Mike came by around noon to pick her up. He approached her house and knocked on the door. She opened it.

"Hey. Its been a while Mike. Why haven't you dropped by sooner?"

Mike gave her a huge smile and hugged her, then set his chin on the top of her head. "Because its a surprise. That's why."

"Oh really? A surprise?"

"Yep. If you come with me, I'll show you what it is."

"Okay." He led her to a rental car that he was using because the MonkeeMobile was still getting fixed up. He opened the door for her and then got in the driver's side. Before he started the car, he handed her a bouquet of red roses and said: "Happy 1 year anniversary darlin'."

A smile grew on her face. "You remembered? Not alot of men do."

"Well, I'm not alot of men. I wanted to make this day very special so I spent the last few days trying to make it special."

"So, that's what you were doing."

"Yeah. That's what I was doing. I can never forget the night we met."

"Yeah. Me either. It was the night of you're gig. I always enjoyed watching you guys. But  something dragged me to you're gig that night. Once I got there, you approached and began talking to me. And then after you're gig, you gave me you're number and I called you the very next day."

"Yeah. And to be honest, I didn't think you were ever going to call. I had my hopes down."

"Did you really? Well, I'm glad I called that afternoon. Dating you has changed me for the better and I want to spend the rest of my life with you and no one else."

Mike smiled and turned to face her. "I also wanna spend the rest of my life with you." Mike left her drive and took her to a nice fancy restaurant. Before they walked in, he stepped behind her and put his hands over her eyes.

"Mike? What are you doing?"

"I told you, it was a surprise."

"Okay. Okay."

Mike walked inside and said to the waiter: "Reservation for Nesmith."

"Right this way sir."

The waiter walked them to a nicely lit table and said: "Here you are sir, ma'am." He went back to the door and Mike slowly took his hands away from her eyes. She looked at the table. There were lit candles some boxes of chocolates that were set to the side. And in the middle of the table set another bouquet. This time, it was yellow roses.

"Oh Mike. Its wonderful."

Mike pulled out a chair for her and she sat down. He went to the opposite side of the table and sat down across from her.

"I was hoping you'd like it."

"Its fantastic Mike."

They spent the hour and a half at the restaurant. Once they left, they both approached the car and Shaun wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

"The dinner was wonderful. Thank you for a fantastic anniversary."

"Well, the night doesn't have to be over yet. Its only 3pm. We got plenty of time."
