It wasn't supposed to happen.

Betty wasn't supposed to have a fight with Archie over a stupid house that she didn't want in the first place, or about starting a family, which she wasn't ready for.

She wasn't supposed to tell Veronica about her fight with Archie. Veronica wasn't supposed to suggest going to a local club and wash the worries away.

Betty wasn't supposed go to her closet, pick out her nicest dress and walk out the door. She wasn't supposed to get in Veronica's car, they weren't supposed to drive off.

Betty wasn't supposed to pay twenty dollars for entry. She wasn't supposed to follow Veronica to the dance floor and then to the bar. Veronica wasn't supposed to leave Betty alone to go dance with someone else.

Betty wasn't supposed to accept a drink from a total hot stranger who's name was Jughead. She wasn't supposed to tell him her life story and vise versa. He wasn't supposed to buy her a fifth drink and she wasn't supposed to drink it all.

She wasn't supposed to get into an Uber with him and follow him home. She wasn't supposed to take of her shoes off followed by her dress, then her bra, then her underwear. She wasn't supposed to make love to a stranger the whole night and then say that she'll still be there in the morning.

She wasn't supposed to wake up in the morning, naked wrapped up in his arms and she wasn't supposed to feel like home. She wasn't supposed to accept his offer for breakfast, and they weren't supposed to walk out hand in hand.

During breakfast she wasn't supposed to mention Archie, she wasn't supposed to mention that they had a fight. Jughead wasn't supposed to say that he wanted to be with her and she wasn't supposed to think about what he said.

Betty wasn't supposed to go home to a dirty apartment and a drunk Archie. She wasn't supposed to yell at him for his state and she wasn't supposed to break up with him. She wasn't supposed to take off her engagement ring.

Betty wasn't supposed to call Jughead in a pool of tears and tell him about what happened. He wasn't supposed to drive over a pick her up. She wasn't supposed to say 'yes' when he asked her to be his girlfriend. They weren't supposed to go on a bunch of dates. They weren't supposed to fall in love with each other.

Five years into the relationship they weren't supposed to be engaged. Six years into the relationship they weren't supposed to be married. Betty wasn't supposed to find out she was pregnant with their first child.

Betty and Jughead weren't supposed to have more kids after that. They weren't supposed to buy a nice big house using their savings from their current jobs. They weren't supposed to grow old together, they weren't supposed to sit on the porch and watch the sun go down at age 72. She wasn't supposed to visit is grave everyday until she too died. They weren't supposed to reunite in heaven.

Betty wasn't supposed to meet Jughead, or give him her phone number. She wasn't supposed to sleep over at his house, she wasn't supposed to break up with Archie and move on with Jughead, or get married, or have kids. But boy she's glad she did.
