Chapter 10: Misunderstanding

Erin's POV
Alright, so he wants to fight but I have the building and all of these students to think about. What, in this instance would be the best approach? Ah, Perfect! "So what'll be?" I said. "Ugh! You damn show off!" he said in anger as he threw a punch. "Honestly, is that the best you can do?" I inquire after catching his fist. This idiot is really asking for it huh. "You asked for it" I said as I jolt him with a small bolt of lightning. The whole class went quiet as he fell to the floor. "Just as I thought, you were all bark but no bite" I said dusting off my hands. "That was so cool!" Jalen said in excitement as he hugged me. "Yeah, I know" I said trying to stay cool and not blush like crazy. "ERIN!" I heard someone yell. When I looked over my shoulder, I was Paige standing in the doorway. "PAIGE!" I yelled back. I broke free of Jalen's hug and ran over to the brunette to give her a hug. "I missed you so much" we both said in unison. "Girls are weird" Jalen said walking over to the two of us. "Who's this?" Paige asked me. "Oh! I totally forgot to introduce you two, Paige this is Jalen, Jalen this is Paige" I said introducing the two. "Erin, a word" Paige said trying to be serious. "Okay, I'll be back in a second Jalen" I said as Paige and I walked into the hall. "So what did you want to talk about?" I questioned the brunette. "It's the first day of school, so how do you already have a boyfriend?" Paige inquired. "WHAT?!" I was completely shocked by her question. "H-he's not my b-boyfriend" I managed to say before my face went completely red. "Okay so he may not be your boyfriend, but you like him don't you" Paige said in a somewhat teasing manner. "N-no I don't, I can't" I said looking down. "What do you mean you can't?" Paige asked me. After that I told her the truth about my family and why I'm not allowed to like someone like Jalen. "I'm so sorry girl" Paige said while hugging me. "Don't worry I won't tell a single soul" she promised. "Thank you" I replied in relief. We walked back into the classroom and I walked over to Jalen while Paige walked to a desk and sat down. "So what was that about?" Jalen asked me as I sat down at my desk. "Oh, you know, girl stuff" I said trying to hide the truth from him. "Alright, but seriously, who do you think our teacher will be?" Jalen asked continuing our talk from earlier. "I'm not entirely sure, but I think that we are about to find out" I said in excitement as I watched the door open.
