Sorry I've been really slow updating... This week, I promise to do better. Will two chapters be enough for you to forgive me?

Love, Sarah. xx

JORDAN

Abigail Somers had been hanging from my arm for the better part of an hour, and her incessant flirting was starting to infuriate me. She was pushed up against my body and no matter how many times I tried to move away she crept closer to me, her face inches from mine. One wrong move on my part and I’m sure she would have planted those lips on me, so I kept my head down and waited for an escape.

Then one of the girls gasped. “Well, look at Emma Lane. Who is she trying to impress?”

Emma stalled at the door, her eyes on mine and for a moment I swear I forgot how to breathe. She was… I’d always thought she was pretty and she could rock the jeans-and-t-shirt look better than anyone, but tonight, in that dress… Beautiful.

Automatically I grinned, and I could tell how stupid I probably looked. Emma mouthed a ‘hello’ at me, and then motioned towards Adam’s kitchen as she followed Zoe to get some drinks. I watched as she weaved through the crowd, passing the gaggle of girls that surrounded me and disappeared from view as she zigzagged through more people.

I caught Sam giving me a raised eyebrow look, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder in the direction Emma had just wandered to as he gave me a ‘you lucky son of a bitch’ look. I was lucky, in a way. I loved one of the most amazing girls I knew. But unlucky in that she didn’t love me back.

I sigh and my gaze drops back to the ground. I could feel Abigail’s fingers pulling my chin up as her face closed in on mine, and I knew that she was about to kiss me. I jerked my face from her hold and gave her a horrified look. She pursed her lips, sucking in her cheeks as she did so, stomped her foot and then walked away as her friends followed her.

“Great party,” I heard Adam’s brother, Brady, laugh as he and Logan came closer. I still didn’t like Logan and I was pissed that he was here, especially because Emma was here too. “So, which of the girls has taken your fancy? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it’s not Abigail Somers.”

Brady laughed and patted my back as Logan watched me like a hawk. I stared him down for a couple more seconds before I was distracted by the tattooed arm of Emma Lane wrapping itself around Logan’s neck, pulling him down into a kiss that she planted on his cheek.

“Hey, you,” she said as she pulled away. “I didn’t know you were going to be here.”

“It was a last minute thing,” he shrugs as if it’s of no consequence. “And you look great, by the way, Lissy.”

Emma blushed, her reddened face turning to meet mine as my body tensed up. How dare Logan say that to her. That was meant to be my line.

“Happy Birthday, Jordan,” Emma smiled, moving slowly towards me and drawing me into a hug. My heart skipped a beat as I felt her body against mine, her light breathing tickling at my neck, and the way she said my name sent fireworks off in my head. “Sorry I didn’t come over sooner.”
