AnnabethMy head throbbed painfully, but I blinked through the undeniable pain and pushed my bedroom door open. It was the first day of my junior year, and saying I was excited was a bit of an overstatement. I hadn't planned anything for summer break, other than a well-needed break from camp. Chiron understood without me even needing to explain the situation, which I was thankful for.
I spent most of the time with my cousin, Magnus, and his new partner Alex, who was pretty cool. Other than that my break consisted mostly of books, food, sleep, and more books.
I absent mindedly chose a simple blue shirt, a black skirt and yellow flats to wear. It was a sunny Monday morning and everything was going fine. Everything was going to be fine. Right. Yes. Of course.
I was just walking out of my door when my timer buzzed on my phone. Just on time, I thought to myself.
I rubbed my eyes as I turned onto the all-too familiar streets. The weather wasn't nearly scheduled to cool down yet, though I could already feel my arms chilling from the winds.
As I walled down my street a carefree whistle echoed around the roads. I couldn't mistake that tune, he had it stuck in all of our heads for weeks when he found out about the song.
As Leo turns the street I see his red shirt covered in smudges as if he just walked out of a workshop. In fact, he most likely did just walk out of a workshop, after all, he was the child of Hephaestus, as I am the child of Athena and most of my friends are demigods too.
"Hey Annabeth!" Leo says as he changes directions to walk the same way as me.
"Hey Leo, you're early!" I raised my eyebrows.
"Yeah well you know me; always soo excited to get to school..."I scoffed. "Yeah right." I eyed Leo suspiciously. Something about him didn't seem right. The way he wouldn't make eye contact with me and how weird he was acting (now, I know he always does these things because he is deadly scared of me and he's naturally weird, but this isn't normal).
"What's up?" I ask hoping to get something out of him.
"Uhhh..... Nothing?"
"Erm, ok?" I waited for him to say something, but the silence became so loud (yes that can happen) it was eventually unbearable. "Okay, Leo? Why are you here?" I finally said, turning my head as we walked.
"Like I said, nothing!""Firstly, that doesn't fit the question, and secondly, why won't you tell me the truth?"
Leo looked nervous. "Look, really want to tell you and I would if it was up to me, but I swore not to tell you!" He said this all earnestly and I believed him.
"Please Leo?" I pleaded, "I really need something to cheer me up!"
"I doubt you will cheer up after hearing this" Leo muttered.
"Please!?"
"Ugh Fine! Percy says to me that I have to distract you so- are you OK?"
I had stopped walked when Percy's name was mentioned. All winter I had been trying to forget about him. All winter I had tried to get over the fact that we were over, that Percy would rather be with Cheerleader-Zoe than with me.
Leo and I started walking again."Forget it Leo," I knew I asked, but I honestly don't want to hear another word about the boy I want gone.
Leo nodded and kept walking. The pathway forked out and through the second path, I could see Grace and Felicity, Zoe's best friends. They were constantly trailing after her like baby ducklings after a mother duck. It make me want to puke. They were walking to school, dressed like fashion models as always, and in my opinion, they looked like barbie dolls.
