Thalia's pov

We put together a quest in less than a day. We were all for Annabeth saying behind, saving her strength, but that didn't happen. Mainly because Annabeth had a dagger, and we didn't want to make her too angry while it was in her possession. So long story short, Annabeth, Piper, Nico, Will, and I were at Percy's mum's apartment.

I knocked on the door. It was late, probably 10pm, I wasn't sure if Sally would be awake, and I was definitely sure Percy wasn't there, but I needed to check this box off.

Luckily, the door swung open after about 30 seconds of waiting, "hello?" Sally asked. Then she saw it was us. And then she saw Annabeth. Annabeth's face broke down, and she ran into Sally's arms. "I've missed you!" I heard a muffled cry from Annabeth between her sobs. Sally nodded and help Annabeth. I made I contact with Sally and mouthed Percy?

She mouthed back, no.

I sighed and scanned the apartment. Sally pulled away from the hug and  said, "Percy left a note, do you want to read it?"

Before I could say yes, Annabeth nodded vigorously.

Sally reached onto the kitchen bench and gave Annabeth a piece of notebook paper.

Annabeth read it and I could see the tears forming in her eyes, "Can I see it?" I asked.

"There's no clues to where he might've gone." Sally said.

"Please?" I asked Annabeth.

A single tear slid out of Annabeth's eye, and she handed it to me. I watched as Annabeth ran her hands up and down the railing of the staircase. She swallowed and climbed up. My gaze averted to the note in my hand. I read it, with Piper reading over my shoulder.

"Dear Mom,I know taht his is really horribel, but I can't stay at camp anmyore, or go to scool

"Dear Mom,
I know taht his is really horribel, but I can't stay at camp anmyore, or go to scool. I can't do it wehn Annabeth hates me and so do all my freinds.
If you evre see Annabeth, let her know taht I love her, and I always did. Tell her that I made a horrible mistaek and I wish I cuold go back in time. But most importantly, I will miss eveyrone very much, but this is what I have to do.
I love you mom, tell Paul htat I'm sory. Bye.
- Percy"

I swallowed. The letter was full of Percy's dyslexic spelling mistakes, leaving it no doubt that he wrote it. I had always thought that this was the reason Percy left, but it felt much more real now that it was sitting right in front of me.

I cleared my thought and handed the note to Sally.
"Do you know of anywhere he could've gone?" I choked out.

Sally shook her head sadly, "I wish I did. But, he left no traces. I don't think he wanted to be followed."

I shrugged, "Too bad for him, we're going to find him."

"Annabeth can stay with me, if you'f prefer that," Sally offered. I didn't want to admit it, but she had a point. Annabeth, along with all of her emotions, would only slow this quest down.

I smiled warmly at Sally, "Thank you. That would be very helpfu-"

"No."

I turned to see Annabeth standing at the foot of the stairs. "You all don't get a say in whether I go or not."

I tried to protest, but it was no good. Annabeth was already out the door, Nico close behind.

I turned to Will, "Please knock some common sense into her!" I pleaded. "It's better for her if she wasn't moving around so much, right? If she didn't have so much stress on her mind!"

Will sighed, "To be fair, she would have exactly the same amount of stress with or without coming. In fact, by cooping her up in here, she might be even more stressed. I don't want to burden Sally with that."

Sally frowned, "Annabeth is always welcome in this household, no matter her condition."

Will nodded in acknowledgement. "I know Sally. But what's best for Annabeth, is to let her in on the action. Letting her stay here would only increase her anxiety."

I groaned in frustration. "Fine."

Piper, Will, and I walked outside. Sally stayed one-step inside the apartment, "Please find my son." She asked. I nodded to her, "We will. And when we do, here will be the first place we contact. I promise."

Sally seemed satisfied and closed the door quietly.

I turned to my demigod friends. "What do we do now?"

3rd person pov

Thalia looked at everyone expectantly, "Well?"

Nico's head shot up. "We track him!"

Piper scoffed, "Can how exactly, will we do that?"

Nico grinned wickedly, "Everyone hold hands." The demigods all obliged, they knew not to mess with Nico when he looked at them like that.

They all reappeared moments later at towns square. Only to fine Nico fading into shadow again.

Will groaned, "Why can't he just tell us what he is planning, when he's planning it?"

Thalia shrugged.

About a minute later, Nico appeared again, this time with a jacket in his hand.

Annabeth drew an intake of breath. "That's Percy's. What are you going to do with it?" Annabeth and Nico made eye contact, and Annabeth's eyes flashed with realisation.

"I went back to his bedroom," Nico explained, "For this," he held up the jacket, "And something else. But, I'm afraid I was beaten to it." He looked at Annabeth expectantly.

Annabeth sighed and reached into her pocket, and pulled out a whistle. "Here," She said, handing it to Nico, "You can do the honers."

Nico took it and blew on it hard. No sound came out, but Nico seemed satisfied with it. He pocketed it and handed the jacket to the shivering Annabeth. Annabeth seemed taken aback at it, but after another cold breeze of wind, she took it gladly.

Then a moment later, there was a thud, as if a boulder just landed in front of them. Except it wasn't a boulder. It was an 150 pound hell hound.

A smile spread on Annabeth's face and she buried her face in the huge animal's fur. Mrs O'leary nuzzled her nose into Annabeth and Annabeth laughed. She held out the jacket for Mrs O'leary, who at the smell of it, started jumping up and down excitedly.

"No, no" Annabeth whispered to the giant dog, "Shh, sorry, but h-he is-isn't here. I-i'm sorry a-about that." Annabeth sniffled. "B-but, your gonna help us find him." She tried for a smile as she pet Mrs O'leary. "Okay?"

Annabeth's POV

I climbed onto Mrs O'leary's back. No-one talked to me, no-one even looked at me. I guess they thought I belonged in some mental hospital or something. But they were wrong. I knew where I belonged. And that is why I'm on this Quest in the first place. Because I need to find Percy. I belong with Percy.

And I need to find him, so I can punch him for leaving again. And then kiss him. Because I love him, I always have loved him, and I always will love him.

And we will find him.
