Percy's pov

I soar among the clouds.

I needed to cover my tracks as there was absolutely no doubt they were sending someone, or a group of people, to find me. But what really mattered was that I hadn't told anyone where I was going. And no one could possibly find out.

I patted Blackjack on the nose, "We'll need to take a rest soon, bud." I murmured.

Here's the thing, I needed money to survive. And here's the other thing. I didn't have any. Well, I had fifty-six dollars and about three cents, but that didn't seem to be enough for me to live. It was because of this that I was forced to sigh as I guided Blackjack down to the surface.

As Blackjack landed, not a single mortal glanced in my direction. Thank Gods for the Mist. I didn't bother tying Blackjack up - instead he opted to fly away. Not that I minded, exactly. I could always call him back afterwards anyways.

I walked into a small cafe. I peered through the display case of desserts.

"Hello dear!"

I looked up and saw a worker standing in front of me. She was dark skinned and had dreadlocks. Her name tag read; 'Hi, my name is Catrina.'

I smiled at her politely and asked for two boxed full of blue frosted donuts. She smiled sweetly - almost intoxicatingly, and handed them to me, packaged in ribbons.

I thanked her and walked out of the shop, already stuffing a donut into my mouth. I barely made it a block past the cafe when I realised something seemed off.

Then it hit me. I didn't even pay.

I was about to turn back when I suddenly felt very drowsy. I stumbled and tried to call for Blackjack but my mouth wasn't working. Before I blacked out, I saw the same worker standing in front of me. Except I had read the name wrong. She was Caffeina. The Roman Goddess.

PIPER'S POV

I tried to convince Annabeth that she was better off without Percy. Yes, I really had. That's what I had been doing all the time in school. But the most happiest I had seen her since she broke up with Percy, was seeing his mother again. I don't know what it was, but that seemed to jog something inside of her. She seemed to be more focused right now. She seemed to want Percy back. There was only one thing I needed to make sure of first. I needed to make sure that she wasn't going to get hurt.

I approached her slowly. I didn't want to startle he-

"Oh for gods sake Piper, stop it." She said, turning to face me.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "You know exactly what I mean! Stop treating me like I have some mental illness and you're too scared to even communicate with me! I am still Annabeth! Out of everybody, I thought at least you could see that!"

I swallowed, "Fine."

"What did you want to talk to me about then?" Annabeth said, raised her hands up in question.

"There really isn't an easy way to say this..." I began, "But I can tell that you love Percy," Annabeth stiffened, I held my hand up for her to remain silent, "And, I just wanted to make sure that you're not going to get hurt again."

Annabeth nodded slowly, "Well," she said after a moment of thought. "Thank you for respecting my right to decide on my own future. And yes,  I am fully aware that I had absolutely no trust for Percy right now. But, I- I need him in my life. Because without him, I- I don't even know who I a-am anymore, understand?"

I nodded.

"Thanks. And I know it'll take some time, but him and I will work through this. Together."

I sighed, "And you're not angry with him for leaving?" I asked.

Annabeth snorted, "You bet. He's in for it when we find him." Then her faced darkened, "He promised me that he wasn't going to get away from me again. H-he promised. But I guess promises are made to be broken, right?" I only caught a single tear sliding from Annabeth's eye before she turned away from me. That was my cue to go back to the tent. Annabeth was safe here with Mrs O'leary.

But then I heard her whisper, "Blackjack?"

I was about to correct her, that no, not Blackjack, it was Mrs O'leary- WAIT! WHAT?!

I looked at Annabeth, "What did you just say?"

Her eyes glistened and pointed to the sky. I followed her arm to where it was pointing to. There was an unmistakable silhouette of Blackjack flying towards us.

I ran inside the tent that Thalia had set up. "GUYS!" I called. "PERCY IS HER-"

I was interrupted my Annabeth's cry of despair. I ran back outside, to see her kneeling on the floor, gazing into nothingness, silent tears falling down her face. Thalia took one look at the situation before running to her side. I was in shock. I really thought Percy had come. But no. Annabeth was kneeling at the feet of Blackjack, who's back was empty.

Hi guys, sorry for the short updates lately. I feel like this chapter sucked, but... Ah. I really have no pros about this chapter.
