HAZEL'S POV
In my first period, I had maths. Leo and Calypso also had maths. Frank had art, I feel sorry for him because he can't figure what colours are primary and secondary.
Anyway, the class was pretty easy, simple sums and operations on the first day of the term. Once class was finished, we headed for the cafeteria. I know when you hear cafeteria you think of your stereotypical one where there are circular tables with lunch ladies handing you a disgusting slice of meatloaf and expired boxes of orange juice. But that is the opposite of this cafeteria.
The tables lettered and at the beginning of each week you can choose a letter and from then to the beginning of the next week, you are stuck with that table and all of its occupants. The tables were shaped in a sort of L shape and held 12 people each, at most.
this is what each table looks like; an L shaped table with benches on each side of it.
They have about 85 of these tables in the cafeteria; enough to fit all the seniors. The junior's cafeteria works differently and I'm pretty sure that one does have circular tables and Lunch ladies. But don't worry the food is the same.
So that brings me to the food. as soon as you walk in, a huge table lined with food is facing you. Each day they have something different. Today they had a choice of fruit salad, a cheese quesadilla or some Hawaiian pizza. I chose some fruit salad and a bottle of water and went to find Frank.
Turns out, Frank had walked to the cafeteria with Jason and sat at the F5 table. But Percy then came and sat down too. Then comes Leo who just plopped himself down and it was officially made the 'boys table'. Calypso, who had arrived with Leo, joined Annabeth and Piper who just arrived. I locked eyes with Frank. I know it seems weird but we fully communicated with each other by just staring.
Me: I'm guessing I can't sit with you
Frank: No sorry, They just shooed Calypso off
Me: It's okay. I understand
Frank: Thanks. Sorry again
Me: I told you. It's fine. I'll just sit with Annabeth.
I ended up sitting next to Reyna and Piper who seemed to have both chosen the quesadilla.
"Hey Hazel!" Reyna greeted me. I greeted her with a wave as I popped a piece of watermelon in my mouth.
We were only 3 minutes into lunch when Piper started talking to Reyna about her weekend shopping; a conversation I could definitely not add to.
And that is how I ended up being part of table D2
JASON'S POV
Lunch had only just begun when things started to jazz up a bit.
Our table this week is made up of 10 boys.
Leo, Percy, Frank, Grover, Conner and Travis Stoll, Nico, Will, Charlie and I.We were all talking about random stuff for most of the time. I was talking with Percy, Grover and Frank when I realised Leo and the Stoll brothers were up to some mischief. They have all huddled up around when they called Charlie over to their corner. Charlie nodded in agreement to whatever they were planning and Leo beamed. Soon Leo stood up on top of the table and shouted,
"Attention all Willow High students! I now present you with the foil plan-thingy!!!!"
Leo dramatically threw his foil-made plane across the cafeteria. It soared through the air and whizzed past a couple of shocked faces. It had nearly made it halfway through the cafeteria when some red-head girl stood up and caused it to smack right into her mass of curls- wait! Did I just call Rachel 'some girl'?
She is one of the fiercest girls I know- well used to know. We haven't really talked since the Percy-Annabeth incident. She was sitting at an all-girls table. It was ...
Piper's table.
Piper's table seemed to be made up of her, Annabeth, Thalia, Juniper, Hazel, Reyna, Rachel, Silena, and Calypso.
Now I'm not being scared or anything, but... I wouldn't recommend annoying Rachel. And to make things worse, Rachel was sitting next to the beautiful Piper Mclean. Rachel stared in disgust at the foil-plane resting on her lap.
"Dude, you've done it now," Will said to a terrified Leo. Leo was scared of Rachel, but what happened next may have made him pee his pants. Annabeth peeked over Piper's shoulder to see what the commotion was all about.
Leo might be a bit terrified of Rachel all right, but Leo is oh-my-god-I'm-gonna-faint scared of AnnabethThe three of the girls seemed to be discussing Leo fate. Whilst us boys were also talking about Leo, we were saying our goodbyes.
"Pleasure knowing you Man," Conner muttered.
"Leo, I'll make sure to come to your funeral," Frank said. Whilst muttering a few farewells, I watched the girls murmur about a few things. They seemed to be almost done when Leo did something incredibly unexpected. He shouted at them"Hey pretty girls!!! You mind giving us back our plane?"
"Leo are you out of your mind!?" I whispered to Leo. Conner and Travis were trying to pull Leo down from his position at the centre of the table. They were both unsuccessful. The entire cafeteria was watching us now. I don't think the girls minded though. If Leo didn't think of something fast, he was going to be dead meat.
Rachel stood up. She was closely followed by Piper and then Annabeth. We had chosen tables relatively far from each other but to me it felt like only a few centimetres away because before i knew what was happening the trio had reached our table.
"Hello everybody," Rachel said in a sickeningly sweet voice. "Is this your plane?"
We all nodded.
Piper joined in. "Well if you ever wanted to keep it," she began. I noticed she wasn't making eye contact with me. "You shouldn't have thought it funny to throw it in the direction of our table.""Is that clear?" Rachel asked. Leo nodded furiously, making his untamed hair go everywhere.
"And just to make sure..." Annabeth said, taking the plane from Rachel. I realised she also wasn't making eye contact with Percy. Annabeth cradled the plane in her hand like it was some fragile substance.she then scrunched up the foil plane into a foil ball and then threw it halfway across the room and into the bin. The students all clapped at the girls and to be honest, I would've too. But it just so happens Leo is my best bud and I couldn't do that to him.
The three girls walked back to their table and were greeted with a set of high fives from all of the other girls sitting at the table.
RIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
The bell indicated that lunchtime was over and you could go outside and play. My boys and I made our way out of the cafeteria and onto the grass. Grover soon left us because he was going to hang out with Juniper. Frank did the same with Hazel and Nico and Will went together. The Stoll brothers went to find Katie Gardener and soon Charlie went with Selina. It was just Leo, Percy and I and we had no idea what to do. We ended up just sitting and talking.
"Hey did you see Piper?" Percy said. "I honestly think if she got anymore angrier she would've exploded." Percy did the exploding hand gesture and then faked being dead.
"And Rachel!" Leo added. "I think I might've fainted if Charlie wasn't holding me!"
"And Gods, I have no idea how Annabeth managed to get that foil into the bin!" I had spoken without thinking. Percy's shoulder's tensed and I could see he still wasn't ready to talk about Annabeth.
"I'm sorry man...." I said. But Percy sighed and shrugged it off. "Anyways..... Was that the bell?" He stood up quickly and hurried off before Leo and I could say anything.
One thing is for sure. The bell had definitely not rung.
