I sat on my window seat. It was a sunny day, but I had nothing to do and no where to be. I couldn't talk to Casper because it would make everything weird between us and Evan was at work. I played around on my piano. I decided that I was going to go to the local carnival because I needed a happy place at the moment. I decided to call up my best friend Jennifer. She was a good person and was easy to talk to. "Hello? Who is this?" Jennifer asked picking up the phone.
"Hey Jen, it's Ashlyn. I Was wondering if you wanted to come with me to the carnival." I said.
"Yeah, sure" She said. Jennifer was always a good friend, but I really wasn't. I felt bad about not talking to her in till now. She and I used to be inseparable. We were the best of friends.
"Thanks so much! I'm sorry I didn't call or-"
"It's fine, you explain it to me when you pick me up and on the drive there." She said cutting me off. I didn't know who I was anymore. Who was Ashlyn Cole?
"Thanks!" I said hanging up the phone. I sighed as I got dressed. My mum and Dad greeted me downstairs.
"Where are you going today?" my dad said.
"To the carnival with Jennifer." I said as I walked past them.
"Have fun darling!" My mum said as I walked out. I got into my car and headed for Jennifer's street. Today was going to be a no boys day. I was tired of drama, confusion and hurting. I arrived at Jennifer's house and walked up to the door to knock. The door opened suddenly, making me jump.
"Sorry didn't mean to scare you." Jennifer said.
"That's alright." I said. We walked to my car and started to drive.
"So tell me everything." She said looking excited. I told her about Casper, every single detail. I poured my heart out. The whole time she just nodded and listened carefully."Oh Ashlyn!" She said giving me a hug. We sat in silence after that. I didn't want to think about it, but I couldn't stop.
-Casper's POV-
It was a sunny day today. I felt like I wanted to stay under the covers of my bed. The sun was happy and I was not. I wanted it to be dark and rainy like my soul was. Okay that sounded dark, really dark. Kimberly finally stopped setting me up on blind dates, when my mum explained my frailness's at "This stage". Kimberly didn't understand, but I didn't care. I was just glad not to get set up with every girl in South Africa. I wish I could stay in my room forever and not come out to face reality.....
The phone rang. "Casper, it's for you!" my mum yelled from downstairs. I groaned. Who could be calling me? I walked over to where the cordless phone was in my room. I picked it up.
"Hello?" I said. I was not in the mood for talking to people. I was in a mood to sleep all day.
"Well, it's nice to her your voice too." Derrick said. I sighed, I didn't want to talk to this guy. What am I saying?! This guy was my best friends! I mentally smacked myself in the face.
"Sorry,I just got up." I said hoping he'd buy it. He did.
That's okay man. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today." Derrick said. I cringed, he would probably talk about Ashlyn. About how great she is and how nice she is. I already knew that stuff and I didn't want Derrick to repeat them.
"Um...... I....."
"Come on! Please! We haven't talked or hung out since forever!" Derrick said. Boy did he whine. I sighed.
"Okay, when do you want me to come over?" I asked.
"Umm.... Well, just open your front door." He said. I walked downstairs. My sister, mum and step dad was nowhere to be found, as usual. I opened the door to find Derrick. "Sorry, I hope you don't mind me coming over...." Derrick said. I shrugged.
"It's okay. Come on in." He walked in and plopped himself on the couch. "So, what do you want to do?" I asked hoping he wouldn't talk about her.
"Any suggestions?" he asked. This time he shrugged.
"Hmmm.... How about Ninja 2 the curse of the black sensai (I don't know if it's a real game). He asked. I smiled, that was my, well our favorite game.
"yeah, but I want to be Click instead of Roman." I said.
"Sure....." Derrick said pretending to be sad. I turned on the PS3 and all the gadject's we need to play . we started playing. "Dude you still know how to play?" Derrick said.
"Duh!, this is the only game worth my precious time!" I said laughing. We continued to play and it was like old times, but at the same time it wasn't. This time we weren't the same immature fourteen year-old guys because we were seventeen and one of us is a heart-broken boy.
-Ashlyn's POV-
We had finally found the carnival after getting lost more then three times. I parked the car and we got out."Land!" Jennifer said falling on to the ground. She was claustrophobic and being in the car that long with her was not good.
"I'm sorry!" I said pretending to be upset.
"That's okay! I forgive you!" Jennifer said giving me a hug. We walked to the add mission both and bought wristbands and walked in. It was like a mad house in here. Everyone was laughing and screaming. Jennifer jumped up and down. "Oh my gummy bears! This is gonna be AWESOME!" she said excitedly. Jennifer was always excited. I swear her body made twice the energy then a regular person. She was also caring and her personality was a little bit of everything.
We walked to the Ferris wheel. We had a plan. it was that since we could see everything from the height we would pick out what we wanted to do. We walked up to the man running the ride and showed him our wristbands. He let us go on the ride and we went up. It was awesome. It was so peace full and quiet. Unlike Jennifer.
-Casper's POV-
I waved good-bye to derrick. I think we're okay now. I can tell Derrick likes her. I don't know how much he likes her, but I know he somewhat likes her. We were on good terms, for now. I yawned and checked the clock six pm. I was tired so I headed up the stairs to bed. I rubbed my eyes and headed upstairs. I brushed my teeth and headed into bed. I dreamt of the times where I didn't know she liked me and I fell asleep.
-Ashlyn's POV-
"Bye!" I said as Jennifer got out of my car. She waved at me and walked into her house. I drove out o her driveway and drove to mine. I walked into my house. No one was in the kitchen. I was exhausted, so I headed straight to bed. I was dreaming of...... nothing tonight and I was okay with that.
