Chapter 16

(6 months later)
*Drew POV*
Today's the day. Jessie and I are getting married. It's really close to when I proposed, but today marks the day we've been together for five years so it's special. I'm in the grooms room getting ready and Jessie is in the bridal suite.
"Drew man you okay? You look like you're sweating" Grant says
"Yeah. I'm okay" I say
"Don't tell me you're getting cold feet" James says
"I'm not. I'm just nervous." I say
"That's normal. Jessie will look gorgeous. She'll think you look handsome and Charlotte will also look adorable" Joe says
"Charlie you sure your mom doesn't mind watching Charlotte while Jessie and I go away" I ask
"Drew you're like a father figure to me and my sisters after all you've done for us it's the least she could do" Charlie says
"How long have you been rehearsing that" Ethan asks
"A long time. He's been trying it out on me" Jamie says
"You never picked a best man" James says
"I know. That's because I couldn't decide. I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings." I say
"Oh come on just pick or we'll make Charlie pick" Jamie says
"Charlie pick. I can choose" I say
"Ummm. I choose......" He says
"Just choose it's taking too long" Ethan says
"I choose Grant." He says
"Why Grant" everyone asks
"Because he's not pestering me" Charlie says
I laugh and hi five Charlie.
"And this is why if you weren't a kid you'd be my best man. However you are a kid so you are the ring bearer or I call it, a best man in training." I say
"I like it" he says
"Alright. Well as best man I guess I should tell you that princess Charlotte, Fiona, and Ellie are here to see you Drew and Prince Charlie your mother would like to see you in the hallway" Grants says
Charlie groans and walks off and I laugh silently to myself. The three girls run in and hug me. I crouch down and set Charlotte on my knee.
"You look beautiful snowflake" I say
"Thanks daddy" she says
"You're welcome. How does your mom look" I ask
"Like Cinderella" She says
"Perfect" I say
I kiss her nose then hug her and the other two girls. They run out again and Charlie walks in.
"you good kid" I ask
"Yeah. Mom just wanted to see how I looked then wanted to take a bunch of pictures" he says
"Hey it just shows she love you" Joe says
"Yeah yeah yeah" he says
We all laugh and talk for a bit more until it's time for the wedding. Once it's time Charlie goes to the ladies and the guys and I go up front. Eventually the music starts and Maggie's kids come first. The girls go to one side and sit down and Charlie sits down on the side near me then all the girls come down Maggie being last since she's the maid of honor. The doors open again and Charlotte comes walking in and runs to me. I pick her up and kiss her cheek then she goes and sits with Charlie. The music changes and everyone stands. The doors open and I spot the love of my life just inside them standing with her mom who is walking her down the aisle. They reach me and Ginny gives me a hug then goes and sits down. I take Jessie's hands and tears are glistening in her eyes. I reach my hand up and brush her tears away then wipe away my own. We get through the vows and stuff then I get permission to kiss my bride. We share a passionate kiss then I feel someone hug my leg. We pull away and I look down seeing Charlotte. I pick her up and she hugs my neck.
"I love you mommy and daddy" she says
"We love you too" Jessie says
We each kiss charlottes cheek and Charlotte laughs. I set Charlotte down again and she goes to Ginny who picks her up. Jessie and I then run down the aisle. Everyone follows after us. We go to the reception and the party starts. Jessie goes off to talk to some of the girls and Charlotte walks over to me.
"You okay snowflake" I ask as I pick her up
"Tired" she says
"Tired? You can't be tired. The party just started" I say
"Cake" she asks
"No. We can't have cake yet. You need to eat real food first" I say
"But cake is yummy" she says
"You know what, so is chicken. I have some chicken nuggets and fries with your name on it" I say
"Cake" she says
"Nuggets" I say
"I want cake" she whines
"Don't make me get your grandma." I say
"I want cake" she says
I walk out of the ball room with Charlotte in my arms and go to the small lobby area. I sit down and make Charlotte stand in front of me. She crosses her arms and looks at me.
"We will go in there and you will sit at the table and eat your food. If you do not eat it you will not get cake and I will take you home and put you to bed" I say
"No. Cake" she says raising her voice
"You do not raise your voice at me Charlotte Mae" I say very firm
She looks at me and she starts to cry.
"I-I'm sorry daddy" she cries
"Thank you for apologizing but you need to go stand in the corner for a bit" I say
She nods and goes to the corner. I sit back and sigh.
"That's the hardest part of parenting" Maggie says
I look up and Maggie is leaning against the wall.
"Could everyone hear me" I ask
"No. I just saw you walk out with Charlotte so I came to investigate" she says
"Oh. This is the first time she has ever argued with me" I say
"It means she's starting to feel comfortable around you" she says
"I guess I just don't like seeing her upset" I say
"It's the hard part of parenting. It's called tough love" she says
"Yeah I guess you're right" I say
"I am right" she says
We continue talking for a few minutes then she goes back in.
"Charlotte you can come here" I say
she walks away from the wall and comes over to me still crying. I pick her up and set her on my lap.
"Hey snowflake, there's no need to cry" I say wiping away her tears
"I'm sorry daddy. I didn't want to be bad" she says
"It's okay snowflake. None of us ever want to be bad. It just happens. Now how about we go in there and eat some dinner" I say
"Ok. Then cake" she asks
"Yes. Then cake" I laugh
We go back to the reception and go over to the table. We sit down and start eating. Jessie grabs my hand and I peck her lips.
"Everything ok" she asks
"Yep" I say
Jessie and I finish eating then we have our first dance. After that we cut the cake and then give the first slice to Charlotte. The reception finally ends and Jessie and I say our goodbye to Charlotte then head to the car. I start it up then head to the airport. We get checked in and find our way to our gate. Eventually our flight is called and we hop on the plane. I close my eyes and fall asleep thinking about mine and Jessies honeymoon in Australia.
