Ashton
"Michael!"
"Ashton,"
"She wants to see me,"
I almost threw the phone with excitement as I called him.
"That's great, when?"
"I can go after work any day. I'll go tomorrow,"
"Alright," he chuckled, "I'm happy for you, but I think you should get some sleep. It's late and you work hard,"
"I will, I will,"
"I really am happy for you. Don't stress about it, just let it go how it goes because I know that you know how to make sure she's okay,"
"I'll see you tomorrow, maybe, thankyou,"
"Alright, Goodnight,"
He ended the call and I got in the shower, smiling everytime I thought about Ava. She was so sweet, and I wanted to protect her.
As I got ready for bed, Calum Skyped me and Luke joined.
"Michael told us the news,"
"She's gonna love you,"
"That's a bit extreme," I chuckled, "She's not ready for that guys, and I know you only mean the best but when you meet her you have to remember how much hurt she's been through. She's not gonna be ready for a dad and daughter relationship, saying she loves me is long down the line,"
"Of course," Luke nodded, "She's gonna enjoy living with you when she gets used to it though. You could take her to the zoo,"
"Just ask him to go to the zoo Luke," Calum teased, "I'm going to sleep now,"
"Me too," I yawned, "goodnight,"
The next day I went to work, Calum meeting me in the exam room.
"Are you nervous?"
"A little,"
"But you're excited too,"
"True," I laughed, my hands fidgety.
"You can't be doing that while our patients are here,"
"I know,"
"I love you," he sighed, hugging me, "you've got this opportunity so take it okay?"
"I am,"
"But you'll panic, and think you've done badly when actually she's probably had a good time. Both of you are coming out of your comfort zones, but you know how to deal with her fear more than she does,"
"What would I do without you?"
"You'd struggle a lot,"
We saw a lot of patients, the day mainly just full of people with a fear. It was still slow, but the day generally went smoother because there weren't as many sensitivities to the touch, or struggles to keep the body still. It was just the case of reassuring them, and working at their pace.
"This last one is a cleaning, and if I remember rightly they were okay with that last time. Go home and shower so you don't smell of this place," Calum smiled.
"I'll help, it might throw them off,"
"Ash, just go,"
"Alright, alright,"
I grabbed my coat and bag, leaving the office and heading back home. While I showered, I left a cheese sandwich slowly grilling, and ate it when I got out.
