Point of View: Logan, Third Person
Timeline: Before the events that occured in E M P T YLogan just exhaled harshly in defeat, frowning from his place on the wet pavement - soaked in a mixture of rain and muddy puddle water. He glared - very much annoyed at this point - at the person who had pushed past him and consequently sent him stumbling to the ground into a rather large puddle without so much as an apology.
What had Logan done to deserve that? Honestly, what? Logan's day had been long enough and all he wanted to do is go home. He'd pulled an all-nighter trying to frantically finish the piles of paperwork he'd been given at NASA. But when he got to work this morning he'd only been greeted with even more busy work. Now Logan didn't expect for it to be easy to gain respect at such a large business, but this was ridiculous.
And on top of his borderline impossible work load, Patton had asked to borrow Logan's truck to run to the store and pick up groceries. Therefore, Logan had - naturally - given it up and decided to suffer with the annoyance that was public transportation. And, of course, as he waited for the bus, it started raining.
"Rough day?"
Logan looked up towards the other man that had spoken. He was standing a couple feet away at the bus stop, holding the handle of a large, open, black umbrella.
Logan forced a smile, trying his best to be polite despite his embarrassment. "You have no idea," he returned, getting to his feet silently hoping the rain would at least wash away some of the mud on his hands. This bus stop didn't have any cover from the harsh elements; there wasn't even a bench for him to sit on.
"Well, I think I do have some idea," The man said, taking a couple steps forward and holding his umbrella over the both of them.
The stranger's unexpected kindness and vague familiarity caught Logan's attention. "I - I'm sorry," he apologized tentatively. "Have we met...?" he questioned.
The stranger shook his head. "Not formally," he said. "But I remember seeing you occasionally around campus - Logan Sanders, the double major in both Astronomy and Mathematics at UFL," he continued. The stranger tipped his derby hat in respect before holding out a bright yellow gloved hand. "Pleasure to finally meet you."
