Boruto was awoken not by the deadly sound of his alarm but the tweeting birds sitting on a tree branch right outside his window. He smiled dopy as the morning sun touches his face. Getting ready for the day, Boruto stretched his arms and begin his morning routine. Boruto's mind was still replaying the sight of his mother sniffling, he had promised himself that he would make his father come back home more often. Now that he was about to be ranked as a Jounin, Boruto would think the challenge of doing so will be, well, less challenging. With his rank, maybe he can convince his dad better to take leave and appoint someone trustworthy to do his job. Not his job entirely but handle minor documents to ease his burden, someone like Konohamaru sensei. He is always talking about how he is going to be the next Hokage, so why not make him an apprentice?

 

Boruto raised an eyebrow at his plan. It wasn't a full plan but it was something to start with. After 10 minutes, the young blond was already putting on his mission gear, a ninja's formal wear to the Hokage's office. By today, not only him but his teammates would be stripped off their 'Chunnin' title and be promoted. Sarada, daughter of his dad's best friends, Aunt Sakura and Uncle Sasuke Uchiha was the first in their group who got the news, followed by him and Mitsuki. Boruto tied his headband onto his forehead and pressed his phone to look back at the time. 7.45 am. He's supposed to be there by 8 am giving him just 5 minutes of breakfast. Quickly, Boruto ran down to get his bowl of cereal, milk and a banana. He knows Himawari would be awake after him but seeing his mom nowhere in the living room like she would be normally gave Boruto the impression that she's sleeping in. His 5 minutes were up, Boruto walked out of the house and ran towards the Hokage's office.

 

 

As fast as Boruto was, Sarada was already patiently waiting for the rest of her teammates to arrive. Mitsuki sat on the ground scribbling something she wouldn't want to bother about.

"7.56, where's Boruto?" Sarada asked out.

"He'll be here. He always does."

"I'M HERE!" a shout from the blond as he looks at his teammates. Boruto was just 4 minutes early than the actual time they were supposed to gather.

"Konohamaru sensei is already here. He went into the Hokage's office first but he'll be down again."

Boruto's palms were sweaty. Nervous? Yes. Excited? Of course. But it wasn't the main reason, he knows after their promotion, he'll have to speak to his dad about whatever's going on and about yesterday. Soon enough, Konohamaru walked out and gestured the three to enter the building and finally the Hokage's office. There, situated in the middle of the room, an older blond with similar features sat as he diligently went through his work papers.

Naruto heard his door being opened, lifted his head up to see 3 young ninjas standing before him. Naruto could not be more proud of his son to receive a Jonnin level at this age. So he flashed his signature wide grin, causing the busy atmosphere to lighten up. The Hokage declared the three as Jonnin ranked ninjas not long after with Konohamaru and Shikamaru, Naruto's advisor as witnesses. Now, usually after being promoted, Konoha ninjas would perform mission of suitable ranks but considering there were none at the moment, the Hokage decided it was best for the three to train. Naruto also mention giving them a position as ANBU, Sarada's eyes lit up at his offer, Mitsuki was more than happy to accept but Boruto contemplated on the position. Being in ANBU means he no longer has the opportunity to continue his training with his current sensei, Sasuke. However, they thanked the Hokage. Konohamaru, Sarada and Mitsuki exited the room leaving Boruto and Naruto alone. Shikamaru understood the atmosphere and left the father and son duo to themselves.
