In a different world

CHAPTER 10

It was a day after their visit with the Uchiha's. Boruto gave the marble to Shikamaru and Naruto, together with Kakashi, their sixth Hokage, who was almost reluctant to be doing a job until the mention of Boruto changed his mind. After some time, it was only right for them to include and continue their investigation on this unnatural incident together with their science and technology team. Giving the fact that they have been coming up with ninja tools, their group of elite scientists may be able to identify what the marble actually is.

Naruto was grateful about the involvement of more trustworthy people but he was much more concern giving that there are two possibilities. One, they actually manage to find a way for Boruto to get back using the marble or they would not, which means Boruto would be stuck in this world with him, most probably never to return back to his actual home, with his mother, his sister and the other him.

Naruto sat on his chair behind his desk, looking at Kakashi who is currently, properly observing Boruto. Kakashi was the one who called in the science and tech team after they tried their best searching for clues using information in scrolls from previous reports or writings. He assumed the marble was a tech made by their scientists in the other world but got lost. Naruto told the rest about Sasuke's encounter with a similar marble and insist they keep searching for answers using the scrolls as their main source but having help with the science department is better as well.

It wasn't until now that Kakashi could really look at Boruto's features. The way he has his father's hair colour, his prominent whisker marks and that he fashioned his father's old clothes well. He could say Boruto really is a younger copy of his student. The only thing he feels different is maybe his way of approaching things and situation. Kakashi could tell that Boruto might be frustrated in the beginning but slowly he's adapting to the situation he's in, he really made sure he involved himself in this matter while they were discussing and while they were searching for possible clues.

"I have been in so many things in life, you name it but never like this." Kakashi said in awe ruffling the younger blonde's hair. He was also one of the first few who knew how hard it was for Naruto after losing both his light, his child and his wife of only a year before she fell ill. He turned to Naruto, his expression like none he's ever seen from the blonde, none in those long years that is. The expression of filial love as he watch Boruto scrunched up his face from Kakashi's touch.

Naruto's eyes squinted as he smiled an ear to ear grin while Kakashi shuffled Boruto's spiky hair. Naruto noticed how his old sensei turned to face him afterwards, focusing his eyes onto him. Behind his mask, Naruto could see crinkles on it, assuming a soft smile coming from the older man. "He really does look like you. Now the only thing to know now whether he's attitude's like you, Naruto." Kakashi chuckled lightly. Naruto leaned back on his chair, "Like what?" Kakashi continued smiling, letting go of the younger blonde but he didn't utter a word. He tilted his head, gestured a little with his shoulders, knowing well he annoyed Naruto a tad bit.

"Tell me Boruto, how am I from your world, still the same like this? Or does this different reality me choose to settle down?" Boruto furrowed his brows, giving Kakashi a confused look. It was quite a pleasant memory for Boruto when Kakashi gave him and his friend quite a challenge in the bell task. He was so close however years afterwards, Boruto rarely hears from the man, not that he doesn't take notice, it's just that he has been busy with his own trainings, and that Kakashi has been travelling to places, writing his own book as what Jiraiya did before.

"We don't exactly meet much as I grow older. I'm usually away for missions and trainings but mom occasionally invites you to our house for dinner, that is whenever you come back from your travelings. Dad would make sure he buys your books although he doesn't read them." Kakashi's ears perked at the mention that he's now a writer? Moreover, the fact that he travels now baffles him. It crossed his mind once, the idea, but he didn't pursue it unlike his other self.
