February 14 rolled around raising a new feeling between many of the young students; love. Rue sat in her husband's class, watching as the students were taking a test. Rosalyn lounged quietly in the crook of her mother's arm. Remus had busied himself with catching up on the backup of papers; he occasionally glanced up to see Rue and her content expression. The clock was just about to hit lunch.
"Okay, please set your tests on the corner; if you are finished hand them to me. Enjoy the rest of your day." He stated loudly, causing some of the kids to jump.
They followed orders and quickly dispersed from the classroom, leaving only the silence between the to Lupin's. He went back to his grading and waited for her to speak.
"How far behind are you?"
"Not too far. Only have three from this stack then I am going to stop; we can go get some lunch." He answered never looking up from his desk.
Rue decided to go for a short walk until he was done. Remus watched as she silently shut the door without another word. He knew what she was doing so it never fazed him.
Rue was walking amongst the bustling students, laughing at their excitement of a half day of school and the ball tonight. She knew Remus had to go so and he was nervous. He hated dances even though he was an excellent one. The first sound that came from Rosalyn was a short babble; her new found knowledge of sounds made her make more. Rue smiled at her daughters attempt to talk.
"Mrs. Lupin, can I talk to you?" the voice of Harry asked from behind her.
She turned around to see the Golden Trio stopped right in front of her. Rue didn't get anytime to answer before she could sense the urgency in the three teens face.
"Sure, I suppose we can go back to the office. " Rue stated and started the short walk back to the office.
Once back inside, Remus looked up when he heard the door clicked shut. He saw Rue being followed by Heromine, Ron, and Harry; he stopped and folded his hands over the now completely graded papers.
"This is a surprise visit. How can I help you?"
"They needed to talk about something, love" Rue's voice sounded slightly irritated; she had her walk interrupted.
Remus stood and went to sit on the corner of the desk. He took the still babbling baby in his arms and smiled at her talking. She went to sit in his empty chair.
"Is it true that Sirius Black is my godfather?" Harry finally asked.
"Yes, James and Lily made him your godfather. " Remus answered with anticipation of where this conversation is heading.
"We were all good friends with your parents, but James and Lily were closer to Sirius. Remus and I were just married at that point. We were already strapped for money. " Rue added , " But we were there when you were born and got to visit quite often."
"Why didn't they choose you?" Ron butted in
Rue and Remus eyed each other. He started to bounce Rosalyn up and down with a cradled arm.
"Sirius was the only one who seemed to never have anything to do. It wasn't that we weren't as close; it was mainly because they didn't want to overwhelm us with another responsibility when we were trying to settle down into the house we had bought." Rue explained.
Heromine studied the couples face and took in their every word. She didn't want to be rude, but it was a lingering question all three were wanting an answer to.
"It wasn't because of being related to Professor Snape?"
Rue cocked a brow, " No, my brother and I have never gotten along. Remus and I were always good friends since I started here. We ended up dating; Severus resented me even more then he simply blocked out of his life when I accept Remus'S proposal at 17. They were very supportive of our relationship. I never really though of Severus as my brother; Sirius and James were there more for me then he was."
Remus grew nervous the deeper they dug into their past. Rue was doing an excellent job of diverting the topic.
"If it is your curiosity to wonder, yes we were all good friends in school. No we didn't expect the outcome of that day. " Remus added, " it is getting close to the end of lunch and if I am not mistaken there something you kids should be getting ready for. "
The Golden Trio took their leave and exited quickly to make up for lost time. Remus turned to face his wife who was looking upset. He walked around to her, kissing her cheek.
"Food sounds good right about now, and believe it or not I am dying to see you all dressed up. Thirteen years is a long time.." he whispered with a small hint of seduction in his voice.
Rue laughed at her husband.
"Food first, you dog.." she whispered back just as lustfully, and she passes him. Her hand slid across his shoulders and gave him a wink as she lead the way.
