The school year has flown by with a certain ease even with the monthly hitches; already March is in full spring of blooming flowers, warmer weather ,and mostly Rosalyn Lupin was growing up before the new parents's eyes. She was close to teething and rolling over onto her belly all by herself. Rue watched her daughter's progress while Remus busied himself with his classes. The drama with Sirius had dribbled to really basic gossip; the Lupin's had a very good system running for them. One thing hasn't really changed; Severus. He grew more and more curious on if they were really involved with Sirius appearance at Hogwarts.
Rue tried to keep positive as much as she could during the day. Luckily, her three month distraction kept her on a good track; she glanced up at the clock. When she saw the time, she jumped.
"Oh my, little one, we are going to be late." She stated lifting Rosalyn, sliding her bag on her shoulder then rushing out of the door.
Remus's class was filing out of the room as the mother came around the corner; a wave of relief coursed through her body. She kissed the baby's head.
"We aren't late, Meadow..." She whispered.
She entered the room, watching him clean up the small mess. He seemed cheerful and in a very good mood.
"Hey, love." Remus greeted, walking toward them, " let's get some lunch. What you think about that, little one?"
Rosalyn reached for her father, enjoying his arms holding her high. They made the short walk to the Great Hall, and the smell of food made Rue's stomach growl. Remus laughed at the sound of her empty stomach.
"Somebody is hungry. "
"Yea, I got tons accomplished today. Rosalyn is defiantly becoming a handful." Rue added, " just like her father. ", She kissed his lips as he pulled her chair out then back in.
Remus sat to her left, and together they enjoyed lunch.
"After classes, I do have to stay little late to set up for tomorrow."
"Okay, that's fine, Rosalyn and I can go for a nice walk while you work if you don't mind."
"Not at all, love. It will do you some good to have fresh air."
Hours later, Rue and Rosalyn were taking a nice late afternoon stroll, enjoying the subtle breeze and bright flowers. They stopped at the black lake; Rue set Rosalyn between her legs to let her play with the grass and flowers. It was quiet and relaxing, but Rue felt eyes upon her. She looked behind her to see nothing but trees. The feeling grew stronger the more she sat there, but nobody was there. Rosalyn started to pick up on her mothers mood change, become fussy. The mother grew tired of the staring sensation; made one last turn to be face to face with a large black dog. Rue picked her daughter up, slowly stood, and back away from the creature. She knew is she ran it would chase. The dog never snarled just kept approaching, but it ran off at the sound of a voice coming closer. Rue saw Hagrid walking up the trail with his students following behind him. He stopped dead in his track when he saw the pale woman. For a large man, he was quickly at Rue's side.
"Take her..please.." she whispered, feeling her body going cold from shock.
Hagrid took the now screaming baby. The students all stared at the scene playing out before them.
"Go get help!" Hagrid snapped; he watched as the first year run toward the castle for aid.
Rue didn't bother to fight it any longer as she caught one last glimpse of the large creature. Her world went dark; Hagrid caught her with his free arm. He showed clear fear not knowing what would make this woman he has never seen faint or be squeamish suddenly pale out and faint. It took minutes when he saw none other then Remus Lupin come charging down from the castle. Hagrid felt her body getting colder.
"Hang in there, Rue. He is on the way. "
