Proving Herself

"Clarissa dear." Sebastian spoke softly, shaking her awake gently.

"What is it Seb?" Clary groaned groggily.

"It's time to prove your loyalty."

At that she sat bolt upright.

"Wait, now? How?" she asked, waking up fully.

"It's perfect."

"Sebastian! Tell me what it is!"

"Kill Jace!" he said excitedly.

"What?" Clary asked, shocked. She hated Jace, feared him. But not enough to murder him in cold blood.

"You heard babe. It's perfect all our problems will be solved!"

"I'm not sure..."

"I thought you wanted to prove your loyalty to me."

"I do Seb, of course I do."

"No, you don't. If you did you would kill him. I would die for you Clary, obviously you don't feel the same way."

"I do!"

"Then kill him!"

"I can't! I can't go back there, not without you! They hate you! I'd have to go alone! Please Seb don't make me go back!" Clary sobbed.

"Oh babe! I'm sorry, I didn't realise. My mum said this would happen. Here, have a drink." He handed her a steaming goblet.

"What is it?" She asked, taking it unsurely.

"It's to calm you. My mum made me bring it. She expected it. I'm so sorry I didn't. I can't believe I thought... That you still loved him! I'm so sorry I realise that you don't love him, you fear him. I won't make you. You'll only do it if you want to."

"It's okay,"

"Now drink," he urged. She gulped the steaming liquid. A strange feeling passed over her. Her eyes glassed over and she felt sleepy.

"Clary, can you here me?" Sebastian asked.

"Yes she heard a voice reply. It was her own.

"Good. Listen carefully. From now on you will do whatever I tell you. You have no choice, it's the only way. You will be faithful to me and only me. Jace and the Clave are the enemy. Remember that. You will awaken any moment now. As soon as you do you will fall asleep and remember nothing of being awake at all. Do you understand."

"Yes,"

"Good, awaken,"

For a second the sleepy sensation was gone. Then the world went dark...

"Sebastian! Tell me what it is!"

"Kill Jace!" he said excitedly.

"Kill Jace?" she asked. She knew she should feel differently but she couldn't help but agree with Sebastian. She didn't know why, there was just no other way.

"Yes! It's perfect! It's revenge as well as aiding us in our bat- You'll find out as soon as Angel Boy's dead."

"It's genius Seb!"

"I knew you'd think so!" Clary missed the smug smile on his face.

"When do we start?"

"Immediately, are you ready?"

"Of course," they kissed briefly before Sebastian took Clary's hand leading her out of the room.
