Clary advanced on Jace. It felt wrong, like betrayal.

He betrayed you Clary! A voice said in her head. Sebastian. He must be using the necklace.

"I know. I will. You're right. It's the only way."

"What Clary?" Jace asked. She hadn't realised that she'd spoken aloud.

"I..." she realised that it was then or never. If she didn't kill him she would loose Sebastian forever. She drew the knife out from concealment and advanced on Jace.

"What are you doing?" his eyes were filled with fear.

"I have to. It's what he wants. It's the only way."

"No Clary! Don't! Please!"

Clary screamed, convulsing in pain. She fell to the ground, the world going dark.

She awoke, her head throbbing. She was lead on Jace's bed. He was sat on a stool beside her. She tried to sit. But she could not move. Her hands and feet were in chains. Her heart filled with fear. Images flashed through her mind. Sebastian torturing her. Lilith... Lilith making her love her brother. Her trying to kill Jace.

"No!" she wailed, tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Why are you here Clary?"

"What?" she asked.

"You heard me, why did you come. Why did you try to murder me?" Jace replied coldly.

"The necklace!"

"What?"

"Jace take my necklace off me! He'll hear! He'll know! He'll come for me! Jace, please."

Jace, though surprised, obeyed.

"Thank you. Jace, I'm so sorry! I couldn't help it. He told me to. He was controlling me!"

"No. Isabel could sense nothing binding you to him. You lie!"

"You're right. Nothing was binding me to him. But he summoned Lilith to him. The rune on my arm was placed there by her. It allowed Sebastian to call me to him. And I was powerless to it. He chained me, beat me. Then Lilith used magic to... To make me think it was you. That you'd locked me up for trying to leave you, for Sebastian."

"Oh, Clary. I'm so sorry! It's all my fault. I should have been protecting you!"

"No Jace. I would have found away to go to him. You would have only slowed me down. Anyway. A few days ago he ordered me to kill you. I don't no why I- The drink! He gave me something so I'd do whatever he said. So I had to. The necklace is a way to communicate with him. I don't know how long I have until I'm her again. Please, help me!"

"Of course. I will send for Magnus. We will help you. Now sleep."
