Can I really love?

Chapter 6

After we had all had a little reunion we all sat there and explained fully what happened at the base after they had left and we all looked heartbroken because we lost Darwin, me and Alex especially because we was really close with Darwin and he acted like and older brother and a good friend

"We've made arrangements for you all to be taken home immediately" Charles said and we all looked at him

"We're not going home" Sean said and Charles looked at him confused

"What?" He asked and Sean looked at us

"He's not going back to prison" Sean said while looking at Alex and then Alex looked at Charles and me

"He killed Darwin. Lydia nearly died as well" he reasoned and I looked at Charles and he looked at me and I nodded to try and convince him but he shook his head

"Even more the reason for you to leave. This is over" he tried to reason with us but it wasn't going to happen. Me and hank had no where to go

"Darwin is dead Charles and we can't even bury him" raven said to try and get it into his head and to persuade him while me and Alex looked down and then Sean did too

"We can avenge him" Erik finally piped up and we all raised our heads and I stood up and slowly walked over to Erik and he gripped my arm to keep my stable and I nodded at him in thanks and Charles looked at him not impressed

"Erik a word please" Charles said while walking away and Erik brought me over so that I was still able to stand up and Erik took off his glasses

"They're just kids" Charles said and I looked at him

"I'm not a kid Charles, I'm the same age as you" I reasoned but he put his finger on my lips to keep me quiet but I rolled my eyes at him

"They were kids. Shaw has his army we need ours" he said and then that finally got through to Charles and he looked back at the rest of the group while taking his finger of my lips and I looked at Erik while he looked at Charles

"We'll have to train, all of us" he said while looking at me and I nodded while smiling

"Yes?" He questioned everyone

"Yes" me and Alex answered quickly and I smiled

"We can't stay here, even if they re open the department it's not safe, we've got nowhere to go"Hank said and I nodded while I still had 5 jars, 4 of them with blood in still in my pocket from the lab

"Yes we do" Charles said and I looked at him curiously and we all got into a truck and drove to a massive mansion and all got out, Charles helping me get down then helping raven while Erik helped Moria. Charles grabbed my hand to help me walk so that I was safe and we all looked at the house

"This is yours?" Sean asked Charles and he smiled at his amazement

"No" Charles said honesty and I looked at him shocked that we've just turned up to someone's house

"It's ours" he said and I sighed in relief while he chuckled at me

"Honestly Charles I don't know how you survived living in such hardship" Erik said and I smacked his arm lightly and he looked at me

"Be nice" I commented and he nodded a little

"Well it's hardship was softened by me" raven commented and I laughed as Charles let me go momentarily to kiss raven on the head which I thought was cute

"Come on time for the tour" she said and grabbed my hand and started to gently pull me along to the house to enter it and we all chose our rooms, mine right next to ravens and across from Charles.

Later I was walking around looking for Charles, as I had just learnt how to make new vines myself and to move things with them and I wanted to show him. I looked outside and saw that he was pointing a gun at Eric but I knew that it wasn't Charles trying to kill Erik as Erik was smiling like a maniac, I walked over to them and heard Charles ask

"Are you sure?" And Erik nodded

"I'm sure" he said reassuringly and then Charles nodded and went to pull the trigger but put the gun down as he had too much of a kind heart

"Look no I can't I'm sorry, I can't shoot anybody point blank, let alone my friend" he said and I looked at him and grabbed the gun off of him and pointed it at him

"Are you 300 percent sure Erik that you can stop this bullet? I asked and he nodded and I looked at him

"300 percent sure" he reassured and I nodded and breathed and closed my eyes and then I did it. I pulled the trigger and the bullet fired and it made a loud noice that carried out across the field and I slowly opened my eyes to see Erik still alive and the bullet in the stone fencing and I looked at him impressed and handed him the gun

"See? I know I could deflect it" Erik said proudly

"If you know you can deflect it then your not challenging yourself, whatever happened to the man who was trying to raise a submarine?" Charles asked and looked at him and Erik thought about it for a moment

"Wha- I cant" he said defeated and I patted his shoulder in comfort

"Erik think about it like this. I said to Charles merely 2 hours ago that I could not create plants and use them to my advantage and now look" I said as Charles looked at me curiously and I raised my hand and I vine came out from the ground and I used it to pick up the gun in Erik hand and then place it in mine once again and then the vine went back into the ground again and Charles and Erik looked at me amazed as I smiled widely and Charles hugged me

"Well done Lydia, I told you that you could do it" he said proudly and Erik smiled at me

"But something that big i need the situation, the anger" Erik said and Charles frowned at him

"No the anger is not enough" Charles explained and Erik looked at him confused as hell

"Lydia, what emotion do you use with you powers?" Charles asked me and I looked at him and thought about it

"Well sometimes it's what makes me happy or a happy memory or its hope that everything will be okay" I said and Charles looked at me then at Erik

"But my anger is what has gotten the job done all this time" Erik defended

"It's almost gotten you killed all this time" Charles said and Erik looked at him and so did I and then Charles looked towards the satellite and then got an idea

"Okay come here" he said and patted Erik's shoulder and then walked towards the stone fencing and Erik followed him

"Let's find something more challenging" Charles said and I decided to leave them to it and walk off for a bit
