Can I really love?

Chapter 12

Everyone started to step back slowly, knowing that we could potentially die and then Erik raised his hand and they all stopped and then he started to turn themselves around

"Erik you said it yourself, were the better men, now it's time to prove it" Charles said, trying to convince him but Erik just ignored him

"There are thousands of men on those ships, good, honest, innocent men that are just following orders" Charles said further and I looked at Erik

"Erik my younger brother is on one of those ships" I cried out and Charles looked at me shocked

"You know what it's like to loose a family member. Please don't let me endure that pain" I begged him but he just looked at me slowly

"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders, never again" he said and then sent the missiles off to the ships

"Erik release them" Charles shouted but he didn't and I looked at him

"Erik please" I cried out and he ignored me again

"No" Charles shouted and then tackled Erik to the ground and the missiles started exploding in goth air and I raised underwater nature to cover the boats and to protect them from any harm as the men, especially my brother didn't deserve this and Charles tried to take off Eriks helmet

"I don't want to hurt you don't make me" Erik said and elbowed him in the face and then sat on top of him and the rest stood forwards to help

"Stand back" he said and threw Alex, Sean and hank backwards but raven stayed where she was and then continued to target the missiles at the boats while Charles still tried to fight him

"Erik Stop" Charles pleaded and then Erik punched him and got up to fully control the missiles that were left but saw the moss and vines protecting each boat and he looked at me then at the boats

"You betrayed me Lydia" he said and I looked at him

"I'm saving my younger brother from something he didn't ask for" I said and then moira started to fire at Erik but he easily deflected them and then one went into my thigh and I screamed and fell to the sandy floor but then I saw something I never wanted to happen. Erik reflected a bullet and it went into Charles' spine and he didn't make a noise and moira lowered her gun and looked at me and Charles and so did Erik with care and regret while raven covered her mouth with her hands

"Charles" I screamed and crawled over to him as Erik ran to both of us and pulled out Charles' bullet with his powers and then he did the same with my leg and I hissed and Erik pulled Charles into his lap and pulled me up against his side. I felt too weak to move and I was crying as well for Charles but Erik rubbed my arm and kissed my head lightly

"Charles, Lydia I'm so sorry" he said and the rest started to walk towards us but Erik looked at them

"I said back off" he shouted to them and they all stayed where they was, worried for Eriks anger then he looked at moira

"You" he said to her

"You did this" he declared and then raised his hand and her dog tags began to choke her and I looked at Erik

"She didn't do this Erik, you did" Charles said and I looked at him and he looked at me and saw how weak I was getting because of the blood loss

"They want us against each other, that's what they want, I tried to warn you Charles and Lydia, I want you both by my side, we're brothers you and I and we are brother and sister Lydia. All of us together, protecting each other, we want the same thing" Erik said to us both and I started to cry even more and Charles let a tear slip down his cheek and chuckled a little

"Oh my friend, I'm sorry but we do not" He said and Erik looked at him and they both started to cry with each other and then he called over moira and placed Charles in my lap

"Charles, Lydia I'm so sorry" she apologised over and over

"It's alright" I said to her and she held onto me so I didn't go backwards

"Lydia can you hear me?" Charles said and I looked at him and more tears fell down my face

"I knew this would happen. I told you Charles but you never listened, you said you'd be fine now look at you and I couldn't protect you" I said and looked down at him and he looked at me

"Don't you dare say that. I'm still here and so are you" he said

"I don't think I will for much longer" I said and felt pain in my leg worsen and then raven kneeled down next to Charles

"You should go with him, it's what you want" he said to her

"You promised me you would never read my mind" she said to him and he looked at her

"I know. I promised you a great many thing I'm afraid. I'm sorry" he said and then kissed her gloved hand and then she looked at me

"Look after him please. I know you can, I trust you Lydia more than anyone else" she said and I looked at her and nodded and then she leaned forward and I leaned my forehead against hers and I held her hand and whispered something to her that no one will ever know except me and her and she looked at me and nodded. She kissed Charles' head and then took Erik's hand and then shaws group also joined them and they all held hands

"And beast never forget: mutant and proud" and she looked at him and smiled and he just looked away and the Erik looked at azazel and then they all teleported away and the rest then ran over to me, moira and Charles

"We're gonna Get you both to a hospital" moira said and i nodded, feeling so weak and then they went to ho move Charles but he cried out in pain

"Wait, What Charles don't move okay" Hank said and he looked at Alex and nodded and Alex came over to me and picked me up and I screamed in pain and Charles looked at me as I held onto Alex

"I can't feel my legs" Charles said and I looked at him and cried even more and he just repeated it over and over and I cried more on the beach then I have ever cried in my life.
