Chapter Fourteen

I began writing this chapter from way up in the sky as I was flying to the Gold Coast.

This chapter has been a long time coming and I'm soooooooo sorry that I has been late but when you mark 350 creative writing papers, fare welling students at graduation and attending a 4 day indoor netball competition there isn't much time for anything else. I hope the extra long length makes up for it.

Enjoy!

After getting out of there like a bat out of hell and most probably looking like an inebriated Captain Jack Sparrow as I did so, I hightailed it back home.

After taking a lengthy sleep, it was time for round two of the snooping mission. I made my way downstairs to find Doctor in the kitchen.

"Hey sweetie!" She said with enthusiasm coming only from a large dose of caffeine.

"Hey Doc," I said with a yawn and stretching my weary limbs. "Where is everybody?"

"They've been training early this morning and should be at the arena competing in the different events."

"Interesting," I said, half meaning it "So what is it I'm supposed to do exactly?"

"You should be scouting the Greeks. Duh!"

"Doc!"

"LOL!!"

"Stop it!"

Wow she must've had caffeine overload if she's this loopy.

"I'm just kidding. But in all seriousness you should be scoping out the Greeks."

"Uh...I've kinda done it already," I replied, rubbing my neck sheepishly.

"What?!?" She exclaimed. It kinda reminded me of a confused minion.

"Well, I was scoping out their quarter of the island and I got waylaid by this old man who introduced me to his grandson and then I had to lie and tell them that my name was Lampito and that I was a helot which they assumed I was from their Spartan division and I kinda had to hightail it out of there."

"Lampito? Seriously?"

"That's what you took from that entire conversation?" I stated incredulously.

"But Lampito?"

"Well it's the only Spartan name I remembered."

"Was there something with picking a plain name? Like Gertrude or Hilda?"

"We'll excuse me for not thinking on my feet."

"And how are my twin peanuts?"

"Yeah, so far so good. Lot of activity and a lot of kicking."

"Ooo, it shouldn't be too long now" she said, rubbing her hands together in an excited manner.

"Yet, still no definitive sex."

"Because it would be highly suspicious to house anything that could hint at pregnancy, we won't know specifically until we leave in two weeks."

"You know what? I don't think I want to know. If I was meant to know, I'm sure I would by now."

After eating a late breakfast I set off again back towards the Greek quarter of the island but this time I was more prepared. My peplos also house a laundry sack I stole from a stationary cart - sans dirty laundry of course. But at least it made me somewhat legit.

Thank fully I didn't encounter the old man. Just bordering the town were a row of trees which would give me enough cover.

As I skirted along the edge just waiting for my opportunity, I slowly scanned the small township but with hardly anyone there I stealthily ducked inside the thicket and edged closer to my target.
