I now had two images that I looked at fondly. I had them carefully hidden in my textbooks as I mulled over Spartan customs and etiquette whilst studying in my room.

I placed the image of my father, known only as Theo and the image of my twins top and tailing in my womb.

My progress and the babies’ development had been closely monitored by Doc, who had flown in a few weeks ago to do our medical.

I had gotten the shock of my life when she had performed the ultrasound.

She had squirted some cool gel on my belly and the slight bump showed me the images of my developing babies.

“Okay honey, the heartbeats are strong and healthy, just like we knew they’d be. They are part Amazon of course.”

“Really?!? Do I get to know their gender?” I was uber-excited. I could then

“Hold on a sec,” she said, really concentrating and she probed around my belly (at the same time digging into my full bladder). “Huh…”

“Huh, what?” I said, calming myself before almost launching into full-on panic mode.

“Your children are cheeky, I’ll give them that”

“What?”

“Baby 1 and Baby 2 are not giving anything away, the little devils. They are both crossing their legs. Momma, they’re not giving anything away”

“Really?”

“Not a thing. Your kids are going to be a handful, which is appropriate considering you were such a hellion”

“Doc!” I playfully whacked her arm, chuckling as I did so.

“All that aside, I can still print off the image of your babies – both healthy and strong of course”

I stared at my mischievous kids and shook myself, quelling any melancholy I felt that their Daddy wasn’t here to see this. I wiped away the rogue tear that trickled down my cheek and decided to shift my focus as something else alarmed me.

“Hey Doc, what is to become of kids if they were to be boys.”

Her back away from me, she froze.

“Uh, why do you ask?”

“Because I know I’m living in a heavily female populated environment. Like 100% women, so what happens to me? To them?”

“Uh, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”

“Doc, I need you to be upfront with me. I need to know what will become of me when that time comes. I can’t live in fear for the rest of the month before they come.”

She breathed a heavy sigh and sat down on the stool facing me. The stress on her was palpable.

“If your children are boys, they will be surrendered to their father. We raise no men here so it is natural that they would return to the man that you fathered him with and you would cease any contact with them…with you boys.”

“Never! I’m not doing that!”

“Sweetie, if it is your wish to remain here as an Amazon and to continue being a part of your sisterhood in the Delta Division you will have to sever the bond with your natural sons.”

“Not going to happen. No deal! No one will come first like they do and there is no way I’m going to abandon them. If, no WHEN that time comes, I will be leaving right along with them.”
