Tony couldn't believe it, his mentor... Well, his old mentor...was basically gone. He couldn't believe that Peter joined someone else. He expected that Peter would move on, but 'move on' as in focus on school, maybe in college... his future, family for Christ's sake. Never would he think that he would just... switch to someone else. Heck, he did didn't even see Peter making another application,
All Tony could think was... 'Why...'
Norman continued talking. "You see, Peter Parker used to work for another company, or should I say industry. One of which you all know and heard of... Yep, you guessed it, he worked with none other than Starks industry..." Norman walked around the stage, speaking as Peter as behind, his hands clasped together properly, not exactly knowing what to do, but gave a warm smile to the crowd and camera.
Talking about Starks industry like this made Peter slightly uncomfortable. But he pushed his thoughts away. He couldn't still care about them, not after what Tony did, not after what he said. This place would be a new opportunity for him. But it was just a little weird to be in front of everyone else. Especially since his identity was revealed, but Norman had told him that once the public knew who he was, his job could be easier and more people will understand and know Spider-Man.
"My enemy industry... You see, Peter was the mentor to none other than the infamous Tony Stank..." Norman scoffed, purposely making fun of the name. "Also known as Iron Man...However, Tony failed to really think of what his mentor wanted and let him go..." Normal chuckled at saying that as it were hilarious.
"He let the amazing Spider-Man go. Why? For saving the world...How bizarre is that... I bet, Spider-Man has saved more lives than that of Iron Man, and has definitely done more good than he has..." Norman continued. "Which is why since Iron Man is clearly not fit to mentor Spider-Man that I will... I will give him more independence then he ever had at the industry, at being a so called avenger... He will do as he pleases, and I can assist him in creating his weapons and teach him. Why? Because I know he can be greater than what he was..." Norman then looked at Peter, motioning him to come over. Peter walked over carefully and Norman wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "I know that the avengers made a mistake, so in here to show them what they could have had..." he said darkly looking directly at the camera as if he knew the avengers were watching as he spoke.
Natasha glared at Tony once Norman left with Tony's ex' protege. "What did you do..." she asked sharply, setting down the glass. She didn't know the kid that well but knew that Tony cared about him. So, why was the kid with someone else.
"Nothing..." Tony defended himself quickly as he got up, suddenly feeling like he needed a drink.
"Yes, because you're ex' protege switched sides, for 'nothing..." Clint put air quotes on nothing as he was being sarcastic.
Tony scowled at him as he poured himself a drink and took a big gulp.
"I'm guessing it's bad if you're drinking..." Bruce added sympathetically from the couch.
Tony sighed deeply, setting the glass in the counter. "I... cut him off..." Tony mumbled under his breath. Before any avenger could press further, Tony spoke up again. "I took away his suit... about 3 months ago... And, basically cut him away from the avengers..." he tried to say as simply as possible.
It was silent for a second before Natasha broke the silence. She always had something to say. "Well, why in earth would you do something as idiotic as that..." she crossed her arms as she walked over to the kitchen to Tony.
"Because he almost got himself killed Nat... he had a building dropped on his head, fought Vulture. Do you know how dangerous that is? If he died, I'd never forgive myself... I did it to protect him..." Tony defended himself brashly as he gritted his teeth. "Besides... Nick Fury told me I had to tell him something.
