"I was somewhat curious about that decision," Kris commented, "What had I done to merit more trust than the other members of the group?"

"I assumed it was like a peace offering," Ferrari said, "Dwayne felt guilty about your car, so wanted to show you it wasn't personal. Giving you the responsibility as an apology."

"Maybe a little," Dwayne shrugged, "But I was more thinking, Kris can kind of look after himself. Nobody's going to steal the key off him. Sure, Ferrari is terrifying if it comes to a fight. But I thought there's a good chance she would want to stay near Monty, in case the bad guys come to the house. And separating the Box from the key doesn't help if you're right here when they come to take it."

"I guess that makes sense," Ferrari nodded.

"Besides, your memory's not quite right. I didn't give Kris the key then."

"Are you sure?" Destinee looked confused, "I've got like a faint memory of that conversation. It sounded familiar when you recounted it, and I think you did choose Kris."

"Oh, I said Kris was the one I'd trust with the key. I just didn't actually put it in his hand. There's a whole world of difference there."
