Tala slept in the guest room and Koda slept on the couch. In the morning, Kita drove them to work. Once they were done, they walked to their old house to pick up things.
It still hurt Tala to put weight on her injured leg. They walked up the gravel driveway and up the mossy staircase to their broken doorknob. They walked onto the creaking floorboards, into the bedroom where blood was dried on the floor and glass fragments were shattered everywhere.
"We should hurry." Koda stated as he checked his watch. Kita should be here fairly soon.
He pulled out his small suitcase from the closet and they packed in the few clothes and items they had remaining in the bedroom and bathroom.
"I'm gonna miss it here." Tala sighed and sat on his bed. "This was our home."
"Well. Maybe we can visit here every now and then." he smirked. "We can just say work ends a little later than it does and come here for a few minutes." he smiled charmingly and kissed her.
"Oh." She smiled. "I think I'd be okay with that." She kissed him and pulled him back on the bed, straddling her legs over him.
Koda grabbed her waist and smirked. Tala leaned down to kiss up his neck to his ear. Koda sighed and pulled her waist down on his.
They heard a knock at the door. They both sighed and dropped their heads.
"It's probably my mom." Tala said. She got up to go to the door to look through the peephole.
She furrowed her eyebrows and stared at the door.
"Tala. Who is it?"
"My...my...dad." Tala whispered and moved to behind the door. "I can't."
Koda opened the door trying not to hit Tala and attempted to act normal. "Hi. Can I help you?" he asked.
"I'm looking for my daughter Tala. I've asked around town and a few people led me here. I was just wondering if you knew her. I've been wanting to talk to her for some time." He wrung his hands around a map he was holding.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, peeping from behind the door.
"Tala I know I mistreated you. I just came here to apologize for everything. I-"
As Ben spoke, the door handle fell out of the door. They all looked down at it as it tumbled across the floor.
"Did someone break in here?" Ben said as he stepped past the door into the living room. "Tala are you in trouble?" he looked around. He walked to the back bedroom and saw the blood and glass on the floor. Then he saw Tala limping towards him.
"Did he hurt you Tala?" he motioned at Koda.
"No, dad." Tala flustered. "Someone broke in."
"Tala can I talk to you alone for a moment?" He pulled her into the room and shut the door before she could even reply.
"Tala if he hurt you please tell me and I'll get you out of here."
"Dad no it wasn't him. He would never hurt me."
"Was it the?" Ben looked with awkwardness. "Are you a um."
"It was the hunter." Tala replied. She knew her dad knew about werewolves.
"Oh dear." Ben scratched his head and looked around the room. "Does Koda know about everything?"
"Yes and don't worry we have a safe place to go." Tala reassured. "Dad we have to hurry and pack our things."
"Right. Right. Can I at least take you out to lunch or something after? I did fly to Washington to see you."
"Yeah. Of course." Tala said as she opened the door, deciding what would be the best solution.
