"There's no time to talk. We need to move quickly." Kita rushed.

Tala couldn't believe what was happening. She wanted to say so many things, but for now, she did as she was told.

First, they carried Koda's limp body as best as they could to the backseat of the SUV outside. They came back inside in a frenzy to pack.

Tala grabbed a rag from the bathroom to wipe her bloody hands and wrap her leg. She limped to the bedroom closet, stepping over the broken and scattered objects. She grabbed two small duffels and threw them on the bed. She grabbed the lightest, warmest, and most versatile clothes and shoes she could find for both of them.

Her mother put them into the bags as soon as they hit the bed. Then she threw toiletries into the bag along with first aid items for her wound. Tala grabbed their wallets and the key to the house and they rushed outside to the car.

They threw the bags in the trunk, slid in, and hightailed out of there. Tala's leg began to pound with pain and her body became weak once more. Her vision slowly faded in and out. The last thing she saw was the exit sign for Elkford.

Tala regained consciousness inside a hotel room. The open curtains let in bright sunlight and a view of damp pine trees and ferns. She smelled the typical hotel fragrance, but with hints of an herb far back in her memory. She couldn't place the scent but it was familiar and comforting. She moved her leg.

It still stung but was no longer excruciatingly painful. She heard Koda and her mother speaking and limped to the other room where they sat on a couch. Koda was alert and bubbly. He smiled as soon as he saw Tala.

"You're awake." he cheered and clutched her body.

She grasped him. "Where are we?"

"On the coast, about a half hour North of Elkford. We're in my home town of Aconite." he replied.

Tala let go of Koda and looked at her mother for a moment. "I thought you were dead all this time."

"I know... I missed you so much Tala."

Tala walked closer to her mother and hugged her tightly for the first time in years. Something she never thought she would be able to do again.

The three of them left the hotel and drove a few minutes away to town. It was a very small town similar to Elkford but it was more rural. It had a small cabin looking restaurant.

Kita began to explain everything.

Kita became a werewolf and met Ben at 19 years old. They quickly fell for each other. They got married and Kita had Tala at 21 years old. They all lived in Washington for a few years. Ben wasn't a werewolf but knew that Kita was. They developed a few close that were also werewolves.

Suddenly rumors of a hunter circulated and the pack members decided to split up for at least a while to remain safe. Tala was removed from Washington at 5 years old. Her parents told her that she had always lived in Tennessee in order to protect her. She didn't remember living in Washington after they moved. The less she knew about Washington and werewolves, the better. They planned on moving back someday but didn't know what to do about the hunter.
