The day after Koda was shot, the wolfsbane was out of his body completely and could make progress in healing. He was still weak but could move his limbs and speak above a whisper. Tala had stayed glued to his hospital bed, with Kita and Ben offering to get her food and things from home.

The Howe's, of course, let them take some time off, temporarily replacing them with a couple of their young relatives. They even brought in a meal for the two of them at the hospital.

The whole pack came to Elkford to visit Koda who was in worse condition than the other two. He was making good progress though. Daisy and Chase even came to visit him for a few minutes. Daisy came in with crutches but still smiling. Shadow tried to force her to go home but Daisy had to visit and hug everyone.

Shadow and Oliver were so glad Koda and Tala were okay. Shadow went on about how worried she was about them but that she knew they were so smart and strong. She brought them a small basket filled with herbs, viles, snacks, and a couple of books. Oliver announced that he was the one who threw in the books. Oliver had connected with Koda over their mutual enjoyment of reading.

Astrid dragged in Chase who wasn't close to most of the people there because she wanted to visit for a few minutes. He put up with it because he knew she would take special care of him later. He said a short hello to everyone and stood in the corner of the room with his back against the wall.

Cambria, Hugo, and Blue came in next. Cambria brought Tala and Koda coffees and hugged them with a big smile. Blue almost knocked Tala out of the chair with her hug. She nodded at Koda with a big smile and said she was glad he was okay. Hugo lightly patted Koda's shoulder and hugged Tala.

"The whole wolf gang is here to see you." Hugo laughed. "Hope you're feeling alright buddy."

The room was packed full. The nurses allowed it because Koda was stable and most people weren't staying long. Koda felt content with everyone bringing life and noise into the room. Shadow asked Kita what was going to happen with the hunter situation.

"What happened to the hunter anyway?" Blue asked.

Tala hesitated to speak. She was the only one who knew besides Heath and she didn't know if it was okay to tell people.

"He's dead. That's all that matters." Tala said quietly.

"It's not though Tala. We are going to have to tell the sheriff the story of everything that happened. We need to be ready." Shadow said.

Tala panicked.

The door swung open. Heath walked in at a perfect time.

"It was me." he said not to brag, but to spare Tala of the panic.

Astrid stopped leaning on Chase and looked with shock at Heath.

Everyone listened quietly.

"Tala why don't you tell your part of the story first and I'll tell mine." Heath continued.

So Tala began to tell her story. It was so quiet in the room that they could actually hear the heart rate monitor and cars passing outside from afar.
