The darkest part of my mind wants to take over, but I don't let it, I keep my feet in place and when May hits me full force, I wrap my arms around her head and throw her over my shoulder, hardly missing Austin, if it hadn't been for the fact that he moved in time.
"Your a bit rusty May, I remember you always taking down our brothers in no time flat. But I guess things change, when you keep yourself away from others and don't keep your self in fighting shape. But we shouldn't forget, that all of you guys were younger, so the boys weren't all that strong yet."
May gets up, shakes her self off. Fight me in your wolf form! Fight me in your true form, you freak! She snarls out in my head.
Smiling at her, I crack my knuckles. "Please, compared to the two of us, I'm the normal one. I can hold my shifts longer then five minutes." Moving faster then she can blink, I punch her full force on the coaler bone, sending her flying. "I have never figured something out and maybe you can tell me," she skids to a stop, digging her nails in the ground and I can tell from the distance, that she out of breath.
What?!
"Why does your shift only last so long?"
She runs at me and if it wasn't for the fact of howls lift to air and my blood runs cold. May bites down on my arm and I can see Austin from the corner of my eye run for us, but I shake my head no at him. Because our blood line is poison. We all have the poison different, mutant.
Her body shutters and the shift starts to happen. "Time up and it's for the best or can you not hear them?" I whisper.
May lets go of me and jumps back, shifting in mid air and almost falls over when she lands down on the ground. "Monsters only sleep for so long, remember that Nova and just remember, if the old man is still alive, by the time you find him. Remember this, he's the reason for the ferlies." she then runs for it.
Austin comes to my side, with a blanket. "Do we go after her?"
"No, we have to get out of here, the smell of blood is starting to stir up and we don't want to be here, when the ferals get here."
We pack up as fast as we can, I get changed into my spare clothes and we get moving. "Who are the ferals?" Austin asks after awhile.
"Just like the sound, feral werewolves that been out of their packs for so long, run wild and kill even if they don't need to eat."
"Why does it sound, like you've had first hand experience with them?"
I don't say anything for a few minutes, trying to figure out the best way to get back to the old pack area, before the ferals catch our cent. Grabbing Austin hand we go up a rock front, it'll take a few extra minutes, but on four paws, it'll take longer then two feet.
"Nova, have you gone up against one?" Austin asks, clearly not letting this go.
Looking over my shoulder at him, I shake my head. "No, but I seen someone go against one, they lost a leg and is blind in one eye."
"Did they not call for help? I mean, the pack you come from isn't a normal pack by any means, but still." He talks shacked and like I just told him I really have two heads instead of one.
Gripping his hand, we finally get above the rocks and up on higher ground. "Austin, you have to understand something about feral fighting. When someone goes against a feral, there is a chance, if they are bitten they will become feral as well and that's why no one helped him. Better for one to go down, then a pack of out casts trying to fight to live."
Austin breaks our hands apart, causing me to turn and face him. "Did you not try to help at all?!" he orders out, like I'm some underling, then his mate.
Glaring at him, I growl deeply at him. "You'll never understand what I did for him, so don't pull that Alpha knows what's best crap!"
He takes a deep breath in and out, trying to calm himself. "What did you do for him Nova?"
I dare not look at him and walk fast away from him. "I did the thing he asked me to do and I killed him, because the one that turned him was his mate. The woman had gotten attacked and when he went to help her, she turned on him and turned him, only for him to kill her and then he asked me to kill him." Gripping the straps on my bag tight, I start to move fast and for the first time in a long time, I don't care if he follows me, I just need to find my dad and get the hell out of here. My home lands, aren't like they used to be, when I was a kid, a lot of things have changed. Just like I have.
POV: Austin
Any Alpha who just got told what I was told by someone and not by someone lower rank in my pack, but my mate; would demand them submit and question them so many times they would cry.
But I won't do it, I'm not that sort Alpha. "Nova wait up!" I yell as a take chase of her and if I'm to be honest with myself, I enjoy running after her no matter the mood she is in.
I follow her smell and when I'm just around the corner from where cent is strongest and something horrible smelling. Jumping over bushes, there stands Nova and haggered mange wolves, that foam at the mouth. "Nova, slowly back away." I whisper.
She balls up her fists. "My home is just over that hill. We are so close Austin." Her voice wavers like she trying not to cry.
"I know babe, but the risk of getting bit is to risky." I say softly.
She moves slowly back to me. One of the wolves snaps at her and when she looks at him, she growels at it. "You stupid chicken shit, how could you turn into one of them?!"
The wolf she talks to, takes a step to her and when he does that I grab Nova arm and pull her back to me. "Who is it?" I ask her.
"My ex, the one you met the first time me moving into town. Caid."
